Mid-Autumn Festival for Children: Lanterns light up dreams” in Dak Lak

On the evening of September 14, in Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak), the Central Youth Union, the Central Council of Young Pioneers and the People's Committee of Dak Lak province jointly organized the Mid-Autumn Festival program for children "Lanterns light up dreams" with the theme "Mid-Autumn Festival with friends, happy to go to school", with the participation of 1,700 children in the province. The program was broadcast online and connected to 13 connecting points in provinces and cities across the country.

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government; Mr. Y Thanh Ha Nie KDam, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Secretary of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Bui Quang Huy, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union; Ms. Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Youth Union Council, and many leaders of ministries, branches, central organizations, the Government Office and Dak Lak province.

Speaking at the program, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh praised and commended the children for their high achievements in studying and training, for their efforts to improve their lives and for their practical contributions to the community.

The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of Young Pioneers for organizing many "Mid-Autumn Festival for Children" journeys across the country over the past 12 years, and from 2021 up to now, there has been an initiative to organize the very meaningful "Lanterns lighting up dreams" program, bringing humanistic values ​​to children in difficult circumstances, poor households, in remote areas, border areas, islands, children with serious illnesses; orphans, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as living in storm and flood areas...

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister gives gifts to children

The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, sectors, organizations, parents, teachers, union members and youth to continue to care for and create favorable conditions for children across the country to play, study, develop comprehensively, live in love, in a safe and healthy environment; and well implement the Party and State's policies on child care and protection.

At the program, the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers presented 200 gifts to disadvantaged children in Dak Lak; of which 100 children received gifts worth 1.8 million VND/child (including: 1 million VND scholarship, school backpack and Mid-Autumn Festival gift), 100 children received gifts worth 2.3 million VND/child (including: 1 bicycle and 1 Mid-Autumn Festival gift). In addition, the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers also presented gifts to 500 children (worth 550,000 VND/child); Dak Lak Provincial Youth Union and units in the province presented 1,000 gifts to children participating in the program.

On this occasion, the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers presented many projects, scholarships and gifts to children in localities across the country. These included 15,000 Mid-Autumn Festival gifts (worth VND300,000 each); 4 playgrounds for children in the 4 provinces of Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Lang Son and Cao Bang; 330 scholarships (VND1 million each); and the project "Space for reading, interaction and Team activities" in Dak Lak.

Performance at the program

In addition, the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of Young Pioneers presented many gifts, necessities, and cash worth nearly 7 billion VND to children in 15 provinces and cities affected by storm No. 3. The total value of the works, gifts, and scholarships awarded in Dak Lak and other localities nationwide was nearly 13 billion VND.

This is the 12th year of the Mid-Autumn Festival journey for children, the 4th year of the program "Lanterns light up dreams" organized by the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of the Young Pioneers to bring children in difficult circumstances a happy and warm Mid-Autumn Festival; encourage and motivate them to stay in school, stay in class, prevent them from dropping out; create conditions to support, help and nurture their dreams to soon become reality.
