While peeling cinnamon bark; collecting cinnamon branches and leaves to prepare to transport to traders with drops of sweat falling, seeing us coming, Mr. Trieu Giau Nhan, Dau Nhuan village, Phu Nhuan commune, Bao Thang district came to shake hands and lead us to visit his family's old cinnamon garden.
Mr. Nhan shared: About 25 years ago, the hills were all empty land, bare hills, we only focused on growing corn and cassava with low productivity, low economic efficiency, life was very difficult.
In the early 2000s, my family began to convert to a hilly economic model by converting corn and cassava land to cinnamon plantation, with the expectation of high income.
In the early years, when the cinnamon tree was still small, my family focused on clearing the grass and planting cassava. When the cinnamon tree grew to about 5m tall, we focused on taking care of it.
After many years of careful care, my family now has 7 hectares of cinnamon, of which 2 hectares are newly planted, 5 years old, the rest are 20 - 25 years old cinnamon.
