Chinese solar panel maker Trina Solar said it has set a world record for the conversion efficiency of a certain type of solar module.
Chinese solar company Trina Solar has set a new world record for producing super-efficient solar panels.
Trina Solar sets world record for conversion efficiency of HJT modules.
According to Reuters news today (January 6), Trina Solar has broken the world record for the percentage of sunlight that a solar panel can convert into electricity.
Certified by the solar research agency Fraunhofer CalLab in Germany, the n-type fully passive anisotropic (HJT) module solar panel achieved an impressive efficiency rating of 25.44% in laboratory tests.
Professor Martin Green at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, whose lab has held the solar cell efficiency record for more than 10 years, said the new record demonstrates HJT solar technology has great potential to become the next generation technology for the industry.
“In the long run, it all comes down to efficiency, so even if some chains are currently more expensive than others, the general trend is that as the industry successfully adopts new technology, costs will come down rapidly,” Green told Reuters.
In 2017, Trina Solar supplied more than 32 GW of solar modules worldwide. Ranked 13th among the world's New Energy Enterprises. Currently, Trina Solar has expanded to 103 countries and regions globally, with offices located in about 40 countries.
Furthermore, the company's CEO and chairman, Gao Jifan, pledged that the company will continue to strengthen the development of passive solar technology to maintain its leadership in this technology.
Trina Solar, founded in 1997, is a world-leading provider of photovoltaic modules and smart energy solutions. The company has not only pioneered China's solar industry, but has also become an influential driving force of the global solar industry and a leader in solar modules, solutions and services.
In 2017, Trina Solar officially inaugurated a solar panel factory in Bac Giang, Vietnam. The total designed output of the factory reached 1GW, making it one of the largest solar panel factories in Vietnam.
