Awarding groups with outstanding achievements in the project to fight drug crimes from Laos to Vietnam

(Quang Binh Portal) - On the afternoon of March 20, 2025, the Provincial Police held an award ceremony for groups with outstanding achievements in the Project to combat drug crimes from Laos to Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Tran Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrade Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Provincial Police; comrade Chan Xay - Nan Tha Vong, Deputy Director of the Khammouane Provincial Police (Laos) and representatives of relevant departments, branches and units.

Overview of the ceremony

Implementing the direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial People's Committee on preventing and combating drug crimes. After a period of collecting information and documents, on August 8, 2023, Quang Binh Provincial Police and Khammouane Provincial Police established Joint Project 289A to combat drug crimes from Laos to Vietnam.

To implement the Project, Quang Binh Provincial Police and Kham Muon Provincial Police held 3 working sessions to agree on a plan for the fight. The Provincial Police sent 6 working groups to verify and exchange information with the neighboring province; organized many meetings to assign tasks, promptly orient the fight in accordance with the situation. The subjects in the Project operated very sophisticatedly, were fluent in the area and Lao language, used many different phone numbers to report crimes, and frequently changed drug storage locations and transporters.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Director of the Provincial Police Department awarded prizes to collectives with outstanding achievements.

Using reconnaissance measures, on March 12, 2025, Quang Binh Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with other forces to decide to solve the case; organize the arrest of 02 subjects for illegal transportation of drugs in Bac Ly ward (Dong Hoi city); search and arrest 01 subject for illegal drug trafficking in Dong Son ward (Dong Hoi city); arrest 01 subject while hiding in Dong Ha city (Quang Tri province). The seized exhibits included 25 kg of various drugs, including 03 kg of heroin; 8,500 pink pills; 13.5 kg of synthetic drugs. On March 14, 2025, the Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police initiated a case, detained 04 subjects, continued to investigate, expand the case, and handle it according to the provisions of law.

On this occasion, to promptly recognize, commend and encourage the forces participating in solving the case, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee decided to reward in cash (from the Provincial Crime Prevention Fund) to the PC04 Department of the Provincial Police with 20 million VND; the Drug and Crime Prevention Department/Provincial Border Guard Command with 15 million VND; Department PA06, Department PA09, Customs Control Team/Region IX Customs Sub-Department, Drug Crime Prevention Task Force No. 02/Coast Guard Command with 5 million VND each.

Quang Binh Provincial Police presented gifts and rewards to Kham Muon Provincial Police for their excellent coordination achievements.
