Speaking at the award ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the National Press Awards Council Le Quoc Minh said that in the historical periods of the country since the establishment of the Party, the revolutionary press has always been the leading force, the sharp spiritual weapon of the Party and State on the ideological and cultural front, the forum of the people, making great contributions to the revolutionary cause.
Evaluating press activities in 2022, journalist Le Quoc Minh said that the press in 2022 reported quickly, accurately, accurately and comprehensively all developments in political, economic and social life at home and abroad. The press has shown innovation in the way of expression, proposing many constructive solutions, good practices, spreading and influencing society. The 17th National Press Award - 2022 had a high number of submitted works of 1,894 works, showing the strong attraction of the award and the interest and positive response of members and all levels of the Journalists Association nationwide.
Speaking at the award ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated and commended the great and important achievements of journalists across the country over the past year. “We are approaching the important historical milestone of 100 years of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press. We are also in the pivotal year of the 13th National Party Congress with many great tasks, requiring political determination and greater efforts to realize the aspiration for national development in the new period, posing an increasingly great honor and responsibility for the Vietnamese press, requiring journalists and press agencies to make more efforts to be worthy of the people's trust, meeting the requirements of building a professional, humane and modern press and media”, said comrade Vo Van Thuong.
In order for the press to develop more strongly, President Vo Van Thuong suggested that press agencies and journalists must have a high sense of responsibility to the Party, the State, the people and readers for the mission they undertake. In addition, the team of journalists must take the lead and devote themselves to reflecting the big, new and difficult issues of the country, closely following the vivid reality of social life, the cause of innovation, building and defending the Fatherland. The press must promote its role of monitoring and criticizing society, and providing solutions to solve problems arising in practice.
“The press must be the leading flag connecting and mobilizing all resources including: Intelligence, spirit, responsibility and inspiration, dynamism, creativity and dedication of the entire people; nurturing and inspiring the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country, the will to overcome difficulties and challenges and the optimism and belief in the bright future of the nation, creating a strong driving force for national development”, Comrade Vo Van Thuong emphasized.
Comrade Vo Van Thuong expressed his confidence that with constant efforts to innovate, the team of journalists will grow stronger and become the vanguard force on the Party's ideological front, meeting the country's development requirements.
At the Award Ceremony, the Final Jury judged 157 outstanding works selected from the preliminary round, and decided to award 8 A Prizes, 24 B Prizes, 46 C Prizes, 45 Encouragement Prizes, according to 11 categories of awards for the most outstanding works, with good thematic discovery, good ideological content, high combativeness, and creativity in expression.
Accordingly, 8 A Prizes were awarded to:
1. Work: Series of 4 articles: New requirements for building an independent and self-reliant economy by the group of authors: Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Ha Thanh Giang, Minh Duc, Bui Thi Lan (To Ha), Pham Viet Hai - Nhan Dan Newspaper Journalists Association.
2. Work: Strengthening the inspection and supervision of Party leaders as a basis for evaluating, reviewing and screening cadres by author Vu Trong Lam - Communist Magazine Journalists Association.
3. Work: Overcoming the war by the group of authors: Nguyen Vu Duy, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoa, Bui Nguyen Quang Dung, Vu Hai Dang - News Department, Association of Journalists of Voice of Vietnam Radio.

Work: Controlling the power of officials: Practice from the locality by the group of authors Bui Thi Thu Huong (Lan Huong), Bui Thi Thuy Linh (Thuy Linh), Nguyen Thi Thanh Trang (Thanh Trang), Ta Thi Ngoan (Ta Ngoan), Nguyen Thi Thanh Tu (Thanh Tu) - Quang Ninh Media Center, Quang Ninh Provincial Journalists Association.
