On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023), on the evening of June 21, at the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Cultural Palace (Hanoi), the 17th National Press Awards Ceremony in 2022 took place. Attending were comrades: Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Tran Quang Phuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Tran Luu Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; comrades of the Party Central Committee, alternate members of the Party Central Committee; representatives of leaders of central departments, ministries and branches.
Authors and groups of authors received the Encouragement Prize of the 17th National Press Award.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong emphasized: Over the past 98 years, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always accompanied the Party and State, taking the lead on the ideological and cultural front, making important contributions to the cause of national construction and defense; the team of journalists has increasingly matured, mastered modern journalism technology, not afraid of difficulties and hardships, bravely rushed forward to fulfill the mission of revolutionary journalists, spread faith, inspire, promote motivation, and illuminate good things to further contribute to the revolutionary cause of the Party for the strength and prosperity of the country, for the happiness and well-being of the people. In 2022, the press has promoted its great strength, created trust, and contributed to strengthening the spirit of great solidarity of the people.
Faced with the requirements and tasks of national development, President Vo Van Thuong requested press agencies and journalists to deeply perceive that journalists are revolutionaries, serving the people, serving the revolution, constantly being creative, providing timely, accurate, objective and honest information, being a reliable bridge for the Party and State to the people; demonstrating the courage to take the lead in major issues, difficult issues, closely following the vibrant life of society and the country's innovation; continuing to be the leading flag connecting resources including intelligence, responsibility and spirit; nurturing, arousing and encouraging the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country; resolutely and sharply fighting against the false arguments of hostile forces, fighting corruption and negativity; continuing to discover typical factors, shining examples and the courage of the Vietnamese people to propagate towards truth, goodness and beauty; thoroughly grasp the goal of building a professional, humane and modern press and media in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party; demonstrate revolutionary character, take the lead in major issues of the country.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Vo Van Thuong sent his best wishes to journalists at home and abroad, and congratulated the authors and groups of authors who were awarded the 17th National Journalism Award in 2022, hoping that each journalist will always strive to learn and work with the flame of passion in the spirit of "bright mind, sharp pen, pure heart", carrying the mission of spreading belief, inspiring, promoting motivation, lighting up good things to contribute more to the revolutionary cause of the Party, for the strength and prosperity of the country, for the happiness and prosperity of the people.
Participating in the 17th National Press Awards in 2022 are 18 inter-associations and 35 affiliated associations with 1,894 works, of which 1,774 works meet the requirements according to regulations. In general, the works participating in the awards are of good quality, closely following reality, highly topical, addressing hot spots in 2022 in the fields of politics, economics, society, national security and defense, Party building, etc. Many works are invested in elaborately, the content has the ability to discover new issues, have a tight structure, the way of expression is close, vivid, attractive to readers; proposing many creative solutions, good ways of doing things that have the power to spread and influence in society. In addition to the central press agencies, the new point of this year's award is that local press has clearly demonstrated achievements in innovation, creativity, multi-form, and multimedia.
The Thai Binh Newspaper group won the Encouragement Prize at the 17th National Press Awards.
At the award ceremony, 123 works were awarded the 17th National Press Awards in 2022, including 8 A prizes, 24 B prizes, 46 C prizes, and 45 consolation prizes. The group of authors: Luu Ngan, Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thoi, Anh Dan of Thai Binh Newspaper (Thai Binh Journalists Association) won the consolation prize with a series of 3 articles: Innovative countryside - modern agriculture - professional farmers.
