(HNMO) - On the afternoon of June 2, in Hanoi, the National Press Awards Council opened the final round of the 17th National Press Awards - 2022. The preliminary round of the 17th National Press Awards selected 157 press works for the final round from 1,894 entries.
In his opening speech, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Final Jury of the 17th National Press Awards - 2022 Le Quoc Minh emphasized: This year is the 17th year the Awards have been held. The organization of the Awards was carried out in a systematic and methodical manner, attracting the active and enthusiastic participation of all levels of the Association, press agencies, journalist members and collaborators nationwide.
According to the report of the Preliminary Council, the number of works submitted to the Award this year is still high. The 72 members of the Preliminary Council, divided into 11 sub-committees, worked with professionalism and a high sense of responsibility, assessed, scored and submitted to the Final Council a list of 157 works in 11 award categories, selected from 1,894 submitted works.
In the award summary report, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Preliminary Council of the 17th National Press Awards - 2022 Nguyen Duc Loi said that the works submitted to the Award closely followed major topics from politics, economics, culture, society, security, national defense and all aspects of life in 2022. The press promptly and vividly reflected major events and important issues of the country with prominent topics such as: Party building and rectification, the fight against corruption and negativity, protecting the Party's ideological foundation; efforts to restore socio-economic development and build an independent and self-reliant economy in the context of being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, the works reflect prominent economic issues (stock market, real estate market crisis, credit fraud, loopholes in management, petroleum business, etc.); "hot" social issues (school drug problem, human trafficking to Cambodia, violations at religious establishments, etc.); cultural topics, preserving and promoting national cultural identity; issues of protecting sovereignty over seas and islands, protecting the environment, responding to climate change, etc.
Many works are invested in elaborately, with content that is exploratory and critical; many solutions, creations, and good practices are proposed that have the power to spread and influence society. The quality gap between central and local press agencies is no longer large.
The 17th National Press Awards 2022 will be presented on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21 this year.
