In late May, in the middle of Tri An Lake, beautiful green grass stretches out, herds of buffalo leisurely graze, both peaceful and poetic.
Tri An Lake is located between Dinh Quan, Thong Nhat, Trang Bom and Vinh Cuu districts of Dong Nai, about 80km from Ho Chi Minh City. This is an artificial lake built to store water for the Tri An hydroelectric plant.
Tri An Lake is 32,000 hectares wide and was once known as one of the largest lakes with the most beautiful scenery in the South. However, the lake is now dry and cracked.
But there are some areas in the lake, where green grass is growing, forming vast grasslands, attracting people, young people and photographers to visit and take photos.
"My house is about 10km from Tri An Lake. When I was single, my classmates and I sometimes invited each other to camp overnight at the lake. Then I got married and was busy taking care of my family, so I didn't visit anymore. Unexpectedly, last weekend, I took the opportunity to take the whole family to visit my grandparents. Everyone went to the lake for a picnic, so I realized how beautiful the lake is this season," said Ms. Vu Thi Hong Hanh, who lives in Vinh An town, Dong Nai.
Mr. Bui Ngoc Duy An - Deputy Director of Hanh Trinh Viet Travel Company, specializing in organizing photography tours - shared: "Every year, at this time, my company also exploits this photography tour for professional and amateur photographers. Those who come here for the first time and discover the grass field in the lake are all surprised". According to Mr. Duy An, a 2-day-1-night photo tour of Tri An Lake during the dry season and butterfly hunting in Nam Cat Tien forest organized by his company costs 900,000 VND/person.
In some other areas of the lake, people still live, catch fish and dry fish. You can visit Tri An Lake during the dry season from December to June, in which from mid-May to June like now, the lake water dries up, will be exposed, the grass will cover green into a cool green grassland.
Around the lake, there are many camping areas from budget (tent rental only) to luxury (all services included) with prices ranging from 25,000-900,000 VND/person. In addition to exploring the grass in the lake, you can participate in other activities such as SUP rowing, visiting Eagle Island, watching the sunset, hunting for the sunrise, enjoying local dishes...
