By the end of 2024, Quang Ninh will have 403 OCOP products from 13 localities achieving 3-5 stars. In recent times, localities have always focused on improving the quality and reputation of OCOP products in the area.
In recent years, localities, agencies and enterprises in the province have focused on developing scientific programs to serve the development of OCOP products. In 2024 alone, the Department of Science and Technology has advised on the implementation of the scientific and technological tasks of "Building, managing and developing the collective brand "Mong Cai Sweet Potato" for sweet potato products of Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province" and "Building, managing and developing the collective brand "Ha Long Shrimp Shrimp" for shrimp floss products of Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province".

At the same time, the department implemented 6 tasks under the intellectual property development program, such as: Building, managing and developing the Hai Ha bearded chicken certification trademark; building, managing and developing geographical indications for cinnamon products of Dam Ha district; building, managing and developing the Binh Lieu anise certification trademark...
The sectors support many projects within the content of the tasks under the Program to support the application and transfer of scientific and technological advances to promote socio-economic development in rural, mountainous and ethnic minority areas, such as: Project on applying science and technology to build a model for the production and commercial farming of blood cockles (Anadara granosa Linaeus, 1758) in Mong Cai City, led by Ngoc Khanh VT Company Limited; Project on applying science and technology to build a model for the production of seeds and commercial farming of Pacific oysters (Crassosưea gigas) in Quang Ninh province, led by Minh Han Seafood Company Limited, etc.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development continues to maintain, operate, supplement and update information into the database system for tracing the origin of safe agricultural, forestry and aquatic products in the province. Thereby, it has so far supported the issuance of 1,332 operating accounts for establishments participating in the database system for tracing the origin of safe agricultural, forestry and aquatic products; issued 2,489 QR codes for agricultural and aquatic products participating in the system...
Along with that, localities have focused on developing safe raw material areas to serve the development of OCOP products. The whole province has 63 growing areas with planting area codes for domestic consumption and export, 9 packaging facilities. Localities continue to maintain safe production with a VietGAP certified growing area of 322.35 hectares (27 facilities); 1 aquaculture facility (Russian sturgeon, catfish) certified by VietGAP, area of 0.405 hectares; 1 facility certified for organic agriculture with 329 hectares of cinnamon; 2 livestock farms certified by VietGAP; 39 livestock households certified by VietGAP and other equivalent certificates...

The province currently has 694 agricultural, forestry and fishery processing and primary processing establishments under the management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, including 430 agricultural and fishery establishments. Most of the establishments have built and applied advanced quality management programs according to good manufacturing practices (GMP), hygiene standard operating procedures (SSOP), hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP)...
In addition, to support the improvement of OCOP product quality, Quang Ninh also strengthens food safety management. Departments, branches, market management forces and local authorities synchronously implement solutions to prevent smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, control the origin of agricultural, forestry and fishery products at markets and supermarkets and prevent the risk of disease transmission into the province.
On the other hand, the province continues to call for and attract businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas; drastically reduce barriers to business conditions in agriculture, creating attractiveness for businesses to invest; organize fairs and exhibitions and support cooperatives, businesses... to participate in introducing and promoting safe agricultural products, especially products in the OCOP Program... In 2024 alone, the province organized 3 provincial-level OCOP fairs and 1 regional-level fair; guided localities to register to participate in many fairs, displays, and introductions of OCOP products organized by provinces and cities.
Through the implementation of solutions, it has helped increase the ability to recognize and protect the reputation of products, help certify the quality characteristics of OCOP products associated with their origin, enhance the value of products to meet the increasing demands of consumers on quality, design, and packaging of products; bring socio-economic efficiency to the locality and people. Most of the products that have been awarded stars continue to develop, upgrade, and maintain food safety quality standards.
