Ho Chi Minh City welcomes first international guests of 2025

On the morning of January 1, the first day of the new year 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism held a ceremony to welcome international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the opening event of a series of activities to promote and advertise tourism in the city in the new year, towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The first international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City in early 2025 were warmly welcomed.

The event demonstrates the city's friendly and hospitable culture to visitors from near and far, and is also an activity that kicks off new expectations for the city's tourism industry in the new year.

From the very first moments of arriving in the city, the groups of visitors were surprised by the joy of experiencing traditional craft villages during Tet, calligraphy performances, folk art from coconut leaves, figurines, traditional musical instrument performances, and paper fan decoration.

In addition, the organizers also gave the distinguished guests who "entered the house" meaningful gifts, along with wishes for peace and prosperity in the first days of the year.

The organizers have selected 8 lucky special guests on international flight VN10 from France to Ho Chi Minh City landing at 5:20 a.m. to give away additional round-trip domestic business class tickets on flights operated by the airline.

After welcoming the guests on flight VN10 at 5:20 am, the Organizing Committee continued to welcome and give gifts to 5 lucky guests on international flight JL079 departing from Tokyo, Japan, landing in Ho Chi Minh City at 5:50 am.

In addition, 5 lucky guests on international flight number JL079 departing from Tokyo, Japan to Ho Chi Minh City arriving at 5:50 and 5 lucky guests on international flight number CX767 departing from Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh City landing at 10:35 will be given the most special gifts.

Ms. Adeline, a tourist from France, shared: I feel very lucky to attend the New Year's Eve reception in Ho Chi Minh City. The atmosphere here is so joyful and vibrant, this is my second time coming to Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Department of Tourism, said that Ho Chi Minh City welcoming the first international tourist groups is an annual event of the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry. This is to demonstrate the hospitality tradition of the city's people and wishes for luck, peace and happiness on the first day of the new year.

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will attract 6 million international visitors and over 38 million domestic visitors. The city aims to welcome 8.5 million international visitors and 45 million domestic visitors in 2025, achieving total tourism revenue of about VND260,000 billion.
