The latest report from the General Statistics Office shows that total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in November 2024 is estimated to increase by 0.8% over the previous month and by 8.8% over the same period last year. In the eleven months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 8.8% over the same period last year, of which revenue from accommodation and food services increased by 13.0% and revenue from tourism and travel increased by 17.3%.
Of which, retail sales of goods in the eleven months of 2024 are estimated at VND 4,487.3 trillion, accounting for 77.1% of the total and increasing by 8.1% over the same period last year.
Revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first eleven months of 2024 is estimated at VND 669.0 trillion, accounting for 11.5% of the total and increasing by 13.0% over the same period last year.
Tourism revenue in the first eleven months of 2024 is estimated at VND57.5 trillion, accounting for 1.0% of the total and increasing by 17.3% over the same period last year because localities have actively promoted tourism promotion activities since the beginning of the year, attracting more domestic and international visitors.
Other service revenue in the first eleven months of 2024 is estimated at VND608.5 trillion, accounting for 10.4% of the total and increasing by 9.1% over the same period last year.

Get ready for the holiday shopping season
To promote domestic market development at the end of the year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade recently held a launching ceremony for the program "National Concentrated Promotion 2024 - Vietnam Grand Sale 2024" to agencies, organizations, businesses and consumers as well as media agencies and units nationwide.
The event is organized to strengthen trade promotion, effectively implement programs and projects on domestic market development; promptly deploy solutions to stimulate consumption to promote domestic trade; strive to increase the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue by about 9% compared to 2023.
In addition, speaking with reporters of the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan - Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been vigorously implementing the Vietnamese Goods Identification Program nationwide with activities to stimulate the consumption of Vietnamese goods in the spirit of spreading the theme "Pride in Vietnamese goods" and "Quintessence of Vietnamese goods". The program focuses on promoting Vietnamese products and brands with strengths, achieving national and global quality so that consumers have more opportunities to freely shop and consume quality Vietnamese goods from reputable Vietnamese enterprises.
The activities to experience the quintessential Vietnamese products introduced and identified at the exhibition areas are expected to attract the participation of Vietnamese manufacturing and trading enterprises. Supermarket systems and stores nationwide prioritize displaying Vietnamese products to attract consumers to buy Vietnamese products, helping to directly connect Vietnamese manufacturing and trading units from many localities to domestic consumers.
On the local side, in December, a series of events: "Hanoi Shopping Festival"; "Hanoi Mega Sale"; "Golden Day of Shock Prices"... will be held from December 19-23, at Roman Square, An Binh City, Pham Van Dong Street, Bac Tu Liem District.
The event series will have 100 booths, a Hanoi shopping Festival exhibition area with many promotional programs of over 50%, along with entertaining game shows, shopping experience programs for consumers. In addition to the main events, many activities, stimulus events, and trade promotion will be deployed to support trade connections and consumption of Vietnamese products.
Typical examples include the Fair "Goods and products for consumers"; the fair of safe agricultural products and food in Hanoi in 2024; the week of fruits and agricultural products of provinces and cities in Hanoi in 2024; the week of goods promoting, introducing and selling agricultural products and food at distribution channels; organizing a network of cooperation in sustainable production and consumption in the production chain of traditional craft village products and OCOP; the fair of green consumption - safe products in Hanoi in 2024; the fair "Vietnamese goods loved by consumers"; Vietnamese markets in suburban districts and industrial clusters in the city in 2024...
In Ho Chi Minh City, the concentrated promotion program - City Shopping Season 2024 is taking place from November 15 to December 31. During both periods, participating merchants are allowed to apply a maximum discount of up to 100%.
The program will enhance communication and promotion activities for businesses, aiming to support businesses in developing their brands, through specific activities such as coordinating with businesses (distribution systems) to organize opening events at the business locations of the businesses. At the same time, strengthen the connection between businesses and consumers and raise consumer awareness to boost consumption of goods, stimulate consumption, promote production and business activities, contributing to the recovery and development of the city's economy.
For businesses, speaking with reporters of the Industry and Trade Newspaper, representatives of large retail businesses such as Winmart, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), BRG Mart, MM Mega Market... all focused on increasing their supply sources by 20-25% during the year-end shopping season. At the same time, many promotional programs were implemented such as Saigon Co.op implementing the program "10 golden days - Shop freely" with discounts of up to 50% for household goods, fashion, and food. In addition, the program "Go to the market for the same price of 10,000 VND" is applied to vegetables, along with fresh food products with discounts of 15% to 20%.
At the MM Mega Market system, the “Professional Customer 2024” festival is being implemented with the policy of “buy more, get cheaper”. This unit applies discounts of up to 12% for large orders and early orders during the Lunar New Year. Businesses are focusing on increasing sales strongly during the end of the year and Tet holidays.
