Funeral and burial ceremony for 16 martyrs' remains gathered in Laos

On the morning of May 23, at Ba Doc Martyrs Cemetery (Bo Trach District), the People's Committee of Quang Binh province held a memorial service and burial ceremony for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos and were brought back to Vietnam in the 2023-2024 dry season.

Attending the ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Deputy Head of National Steering Committee 515; Mr. Tran Thang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province; Mr. Keo U Don But Xing Khon, Deputy Governor of Khammouane province (Laos).

After many months of searching and gathering, officers and staff of Team 589, Quang Binh Provincial Military Command, recovered 16 martyrs' remains and brought them back to the country on May 22.

In a solemn atmosphere, the delegation offered incense and flowers to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and peace of the country. Representatives of the leaders of Khammouane province (Laos) also expressed their deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who devoted their youth and sacrificed for the independence and peace of the people of Vietnam and Laos.
