The website of the National Archives of Israel shows a notice about the cyber attack, disrupting archival search services and experts are currently working to restore network operations.
The announcement did not provide further details of the attack or the extent of the damage. Some functions and archives, including folders and photos, remained operational.
According to Haaretz, the perpetrator is the CyberToufan group, which has claimed responsibility for the attack. The CyberToufan group's announcement said it had leaked the details of more than 10,000 Israeli researchers and government employees. Among the leaked information are those of research experts, historians, etc.
Cyber attacks have increased in frequency and complexity as the Israel-Hamas conflict has intensified.
Check Point Software has seen a roughly 20% increase in cyberattacks in Israel since the conflict began on October 7, with more than 50% of those attacks targeting government sectors.
We don't see this increase anywhere else on a global level, according to Gil Messing, chief people officer at Check Point Software Technologies.
