In 2020, A. Rasberry (38 years old) graduated with a PhD in Business Administration from Saint Leo University, Florida (USA). The female doctor said that for the past 4 years, she has struggled to find a job in her major. According to Business Insider , Rasberry is unemployed and has to bear a tuition debt of 250,000 USD (equivalent to about 6.2 billion VND).

Since earning her doctorate, Rasberry has applied for many different positions without success. To make ends meet, the doctor had to lower her standards to broaden her job search. Finally, Rasberry found a job in Nursing.

"I thought education was the path to financial freedom, but I was wrong," the 38-year-old doctor confided. After receiving her doctorate, Rasberry was invited to be a visiting lecturer. However, after talking to someone in the industry, the doctor decided to give up the opportunity.

"I realized that even with a PhD, I still had to take additional pedagogical skills courses, accumulate teaching-related expertise, and gain experience to advance," Rasberry said.

Turning down the good opportunity, Rasberry continued to look for a job in her field of study in vain. Because in addition to qualifications, most businesses require candidates to have experience and skills for the job. Realizing that the situation was not good, Rasberry applied for jobs in the fields of accounting, auditing, tutoring, and human resource management, but all were not promising.

The reason came from the female doctor's lack of experience. During her studies, Rasberry had experience in banking, human resources and accounting, but it was still not enough for employers. "I was qualified for the entrance exam but lacked the ability for a management or leadership position. At that time, I realized that the degree brought opportunities but was also a failure," Rasberry said helplessly.

Through her own real-life story, the female doctor advises those pursuing a degree to spend more time researching job opportunities and finding internship opportunities before studying. Especially expanding social relationships, improving soft skills and career orientation.

In addition to nursing, Rasberry currently participates in some part-time jobs to earn extra income. In her free time, the female doctor also learns more about this industry to take advantage of every opportunity in the current situation.
