The 2025 admissions and career counseling program organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper, the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) in coordination with other units on February 22 in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen and Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa attracted thousands of students to attend.
AI support at work
At the consultation session held at the Central University of Construction (Phu Yen), Nguyen Bao Hoang (grade 12 student at Ngo Gia Tu High School) wondered which professions would be completely replaced by information technology in the future.
In the current strong development trend of artificial intelligence (AI), many students in Van Ninh district (Khanh Hoa) are also concerned that AI will replace many jobs in the future.
"How will the legal profession be affected by the growing development of AI? Is it possible that this profession will be completely replaced by AI? Many teachers have told me that medicine is a career worth pursuing and I am trying to get into it. Will the pharmaceutical profession be replaced by AI in the future?" - Bao Hoang wondered.
MSc. Le Van Hien - Head of the University Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law - affirmed that not only the law industry but all professions need the support of AI in providing information.
"For example, in the field of criminal law, when identifying crimes and quantifying punishments, it requires human thinking to be able to correctly assess the motive, cause of committing the crime and the nature of the incident to give an appropriate sentence.
Therefore, I affirm that AI cannot replace those working in the legal industry. How to support depends on each specific case in legal situations" - Mr. Hien emphasized.
Similarly, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Khoi - Head of University Training Department, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City - also affirmed that AI cannot replace people working in the medical field.
"But those who do not use AI will be replaced by those who can use AI. The use of AI supports all industries, including the medical industry. For example, in the field of diagnosis. AI will support from test results and from imaging results to judge whether that person is likely to have a disease or not.
So you will see that AI is a very good tool. Instead of relying only on experience, people have used AI. With deep learning and machine learning algorithms, AI has helped experienced people become more confident when looking at the results that AI has suggested" - Mr. Khoi answered.
Answering the question of some students, whether studying pharmacy at university level requires foreign language or not, Mr. Khoi said that not only at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy but all universities have regulations on foreign language output standards.
"The reason why you have difficulty with foreign languages is because of your high school studies. Sometimes we do not focus on learning foreign languages or the learning conditions are not suitable, so when you go to university, you will have to spend a lot of time practicing foreign languages.
Foreign languages are the door that opens up a treasure trove of knowledge in all fields, especially in the medical field. I think at first you are afraid of foreign languages, but if you have a good learning method, you will find learning foreign languages easy, not too difficult" - Mr. Khoi shared.

Every industry is impacted by AI
Besides, many students also wonder if biotechnology can become a developing industry in the future in Vietnam. Will choosing to study this industry affect job opportunities in the era of strong technology and AI development?
According to Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Hung - Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, when talking about biotechnology, it can be understood as the application of biological achievements to life. For example, testing, producing vaccines to prevent diseases or in the pharmaceutical field, extracting active ingredients to create medicinal herbs and gradually reducing the use of chemicals.
In agriculture, applying biotechnology to create new plant varieties and new livestock; treating the environment for safer production...
"AI can support but cannot replace the role of humans. I think that not only biology but all AI fields can only support but cannot replace the role of humans. AI is created by humans, so don't worry. If a certain profession disappears, another will replace it" - Mr. Hung said.
MSc. Phung Quan, University of Natural Sciences - Ho Chi Minh City National University, also said that the State currently has a development strategy for biotechnology from now until 2030. This industry is applied in many fields such as biomedicine, health, food categories, agriculture, industry and even AI applications in biotechnology.
Mr. Quan also affirmed that all professions are affected by AI. AI is created by humans, so for the development of science and technology, it will support us a lot, especially in the field of automation.
"You can rest assured to study the subjects you love. Currently, there are many AI applications and tools. So use them most effectively to achieve success," Mr. Quan advised.
