Young dynamic people

Not limiting themselves to a single job, today's youth tend to develop in different fields to accumulate more values.

Increasingly rapid and complex social changes are creating major changes in employment trends, especially for the dynamic Gen Z. Many people in this generation choose to "multitask" instead of emphasizing "mastering one skill, achieving glory for one life".

Increase income, gain experience

After finishing her work as a marketing employee in a company in District 3 at 5 p.m., Nguyen Mai Huong (25 years old; residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) goes to teach piano at a music center in Phu Nhuan District. This has been her regular schedule for the past year. Not only Huong, many of her peers also have "side jobs". Some people take advantage of their existing skills or talents to do extra work, such as making handicrafts, teaching drawing, singing... or taking advantage of driving technology cars after work.

In addition, many young people proactively equip themselves with more knowledge to join the "multi-job" race. Le Loc (28 years old, from Dong Nai) is currently selling books and stationery. As a person pursuing pickleball - a trendy sport today, Le Loc recognizes a potential market from buying and selling training equipment, training clothes, renting courts to opening up new career opportunities: coaching. After a period of coaching many players, Loc plans to attend coaching and referee training courses organized by the Department of Sports and Physical Training as well as the Ho Chi Minh City Tennis - Pickleball Federation with the determination to professionalize this job.

There are many different reasons that motivate young people to do many things at the same time, but in general, those who tend to multitask have the goal of increasing their income and improving their life experience. Many Gen Zs explain that spending most of their time working is a way to help them limit useless entertainment, limit spending... to focus their finances on larger long-term goals such as buying a house, getting married, studying abroad...

Proactively choose your direction

Dinh Hai Dang (23 years old, a student of dentistry - Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy) has organized many successful events, large and small, to serve young people, of which the most notable is Sap Show - a series of attractive art programs that attract a large number of students. Despite being busy with his hospital schedule and studying, Dang still tries his best to balance his tasks at the same time. Not only is he the person behind the operations, Dang also plays the role of media representative for many projects. With passion and a spirit of learning, Dang and his colleagues have gradually affirmed their personal brand in the event market. Determining that studying a major is a priority, it cannot be denied that the event management job is very useful in helping him improve his thinking and expand his social relationships. It is also a practical luggage to serve his future professional field.

Quang Anh (right cover) is always dedicated to every job.

For Nguyen Quang Anh (22 years old), experience in many diverse professions not only helps young people hone their skills and accumulate more life experience, but is also a way to help them narrow down and determine the most suitable career path to stick with for a long time in the future. Quang Anh is currently an accounting data entry specialist at a furniture supplier in the US. Having graduated with a degree in Business English, having taught and worked in customer care since his student days, he quickly overcame his confusion when getting acquainted with economic-related jobs with a lot of untrained knowledge. Quang Anh believes that experience and knowledge in many fields can be linked and complement each other. His guiding principle is that no matter what he does, he should be serious, put all his heart and responsibility into it.

Inevitable trend

According to PwC's Asia-Pacific workforce survey of 19,500 workers in 14 countries, including 1,000 workers from Vietnam, 64% agreed that the skills required by their jobs will change significantly in the next 5 years. Up to 92% of Vietnamese workers feel ready to adapt to new ways of working. Therefore, expanding capacity to develop oneself in many diverse roles is an inevitable trend. It is important to maintain a balance between work and personal life, ensure productivity, and prevent the risk of physical and mental health decline due to overwork.
