Pioneering in building a neutral Internet connection platform

Previously, in Vietnam, the Internet traffic exchange system mainly depended on the National Internet Traffic Exchange (VNIX) operated by the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC). With this cooperation, CMC Telecom and BBIX will for the first time put into operation a neutral IX system by a Vietnamese Internet service provider in cooperation with an international IX unit.

The international neutral IX system is expected to have many members from the world's leading technology corporations, content providers and Internet connections. The combination of CMC Telecom and BBIX will help users including businesses and households enhance their experience, reduce network latency, improve transmission stability, and optimize connection costs, especially in the context of frequent problems with international submarine cables. The deployment of this system not only creates a solid connection foundation for domestic users but also expands the ability to connect Vietnamese businesses to the global Internet ecosystem.

Optimizing Internet connection, enhancing national competitiveness

The neutral IX system will be deployed at two leading data centers (DCs) of CMC Telecom at CMC DC Duy Tan (Hanoi) and CMC DC Tan Thuan (HCMC).

CMC Telecom's data center is the first DC in Vietnam to meet all three standards of Uptime Tier III design - construction - operation and level 4 information system safety, ensuring reliability, security and flexible scalability for Internet connection infrastructure. With support for high-speed 10G and 100G Ethernet LR-4 connection ports, this system helps optimize data transmission speed, supporting businesses to operate more effectively in the context of a strongly developing digital economy.

According to Mr. Dang Tung Son - Senior Vice President of CMC Technology Group, Deputy General Director of CMC Telecom, Vice President of Vietnam Internet Association (VIA): Cooperating with BBIX/SoftBank to deploy the international IX system helps optimize connection costs, reduce network latency and improve Internet access quality. This is a strategic step to help CMC Telecom accompany the development of Vietnam's digital economy, contributing to making Vietnam a Digital Hub of the region.

Mr. Hideyuki Sasaki - President & CEO of BBIX, also expressed his joy at cooperating with a comprehensive service provider, owning the safest and most modern data centers in Vietnam like CMC Telecom. "This cooperation will be an important step forward to help improve the quality of the Internet in Vietnam and expand regional connectivity," he said.

IX International - "step forward" in the spirit of Resolution 57

The cooperation between CMC Telecom and BBIX not only builds an international IX system, but also contributes to improving the Internet experience for businesses and users in Vietnam. This is also an activity to implement Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

The construction of the international IX system contributes to the task of enhancing digital sovereignty and reducing dependence on international telecommunications infrastructure. At the same time, optimizing Internet connections helps businesses operate more effectively in the digital environment, improving the quality of Internet services, supporting online services, expanding the digital ecosystem, creating a foundation for the development of AI and advanced technology services.

CMC Telecom is a member company of CMC Technology Group, and is also the only telecommunications infrastructure company in Vietnam with foreign shareholders (TIME dotCom - Malaysia). With the mission of becoming a comprehensive service provider for businesses and organizations, CMC Telecom provides solutions for Data Center, Cloud, Connection, Managed Services and Information Security.

BBIX, Inc. was founded in 2003 and is a part of SoftBank Group, providing neutral Internet Exchange (IX) services in Japan and globally. BBIX has expanded its operations in Southeast Asia, with successful connection points in the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and now Vietnam.
