The entrance exam for grade 10 high school, high school for ethnic minorities, and specialized high school (collectively referred to as grade 10 high school entrance exam) for the 2023-2024 school year will be held from June 3 to 5, 2023. In order for students to enter the exam with the best results, these days, junior high schools in the province are urgently reviewing and preparing well.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Cao Ba Quat Secondary School (Thuan Bac) has 91 grade 9 students studying in 2 classes. According to teacher Bui Thi Thuy Trang, Principal of the school, in order to prepare well for this exam, along with considering recognition of junior high school graduation, guiding students to register for high school admission online..., from the beginning of the second semester, the school has organized review sessions for 3 subjects: Math, Literature and English for grade 9 students with a duration of 2 periods/subject/week and from the beginning of April until now, it has increased to 4 periods/subject/week. The review for students is implemented by the school until May 25. Along with reviewing knowledge, the school has also organized mock exams for students; at the same time, doing a good job of consulting to help students and parents register their wishes to apply for grade 10 high school in accordance with their abilities and strengths.

At Nguyen Truong To Secondary School (Ninh Son), the school has also urgently and seriously implemented the review and preparation atmosphere for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year. Teacher Nguyen Van Ngoc, Principal of the school, said: In addition to focusing on reviewing knowledge, the school also organizes parent meetings to disseminate enrollment targets of high schools, advise and guide parents and students so that they can make choices that are suitable to their abilities. This year, the whole school has 251/254 students registered for the 10th grade entrance exam; of which, 7 students registered for the Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, 3 students wish to register for vocational schools. To achieve the goal of over 90% of students passing the entrance exam to high schools, after the end of the second semester, the school has arranged classes according to students' level and assigned good and experienced teachers to review the exam for them; Increase the number of review periods and organize afternoon tutoring; organize mock tests for students to get familiar with the format and structure of the Department of Education and Training's exam; at the same time, evaluate the mock test results, helping students fill in gaps in their knowledge...

Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh, a math teacher, shared: In order for students to review knowledge effectively, we build methods suitable for each group of students. For students with weak and average academic performance, we proactively change teaching methods, ensuring that we both review the theory of the lessons and guide them on how to do the exercises, giving priority to students doing many sample tests to apply knowledge systematically. For excellent students, we prioritize fostering advanced knowledge, helping them solve difficult questions to take exams for specialized schools and specialized classes. Student Pham Phuong Thuy, a student in class 9A1, shared: In addition to reviewing at school, teachers also provide many guidance documents and outlines for us to review at home; set up Zalo groups for us to exchange exercises, ask teachers when we do not understand the lesson... Thanks to this method, we feel more confident to strive for the best results in the upcoming 10th grade high school entrance exam.

Teacher Phan Thanh Hoang, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ninh Son district, said: To prepare well for the enrollment of students into grade 10 of high school, right from the beginning of the school year, the Department of Education and Training of the district has directed its junior high schools to focus on improving the quality of mass education and reviewing knowledge for grade 9 students. Currently, 8/8 junior high schools in the district have completed the final examination and assessment of the second semester and are "sprinting" to organize knowledge review for students. Through regular inspections, all schools strictly comply with the regulations on organizing review for grade 9 students.

In the 2023-2024 school year, the province will enroll 6,246 grade 10 students in public high schools, a decrease of 113 students and 1 class compared to the previous school year. Of which, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will enroll 250 students in 8 classes; the provincial Ethnic Minority High School will enroll 105 students in 3 classes; Pi Nang Tac Ethnic Minority High School will enroll 70 students in 2 classes; the remaining 17 public high schools will enroll 5,821 students in 144 classes. Regarding the admission method, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will conduct an entrance exam; the remaining ethnic minority high schools and high schools (public system) will conduct a combination of entrance exams and selection. Enrollment zoning will be implemented according to the direction, approval and decision of the Provincial People's Committee.
