In the rice fields of Luong Son, Nhon Son, and My Son communes, people have been harvesting since early morning. The ripe rice has high and uniform yields and good prices, so everyone is excited. Luong Son commune currently has the largest rice growing area in the district with 1,230 hectares. Although production is still under unfavorable weather conditions, such as prolonged heat, fog, and diseases, thanks to the good application of care techniques and timely disease treatment, the rice plants grow well, with an average yield of about 7 tons/ha.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat in Tan Lap 2 village (Luong Son commune) said: His family has just harvested 3 hectares of KD18 rice variety. In recent crops, due to low rice prices and increased prices of agricultural materials, production profits were not high. However, this winter-spring crop has improved again when rice prices increased and productivity was good. Currently, traders buy fresh rice at prices ranging from 6,000-7,000 VND/kg, dry rice at 8,000-9,000 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, Mr. Nhat's family earns a profit of about 35 million VND/ha. Because the rice is harvested during the dry season, the combine harvester can operate easily, so the harvest progress is quite fast. After harvesting, the rice needs to be dried immediately, so his family has to hire 5 more workers to work continuously, ensuring that it is dried quickly during the day to sell to traders in time.

Winter-spring rice harvest 2024 with high yield.
Not only Mr. Nhat, many other farmers are also hiring more workers to harvest and dry rice in vacant lots. Not far away, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan's household has to hire 10 more workers, at a cost of 250,000-280,000 VND/person/day to quickly harvest 6 hectares of ripe rice. Thanks to that, many workers also have a good source of income these days.
Currently, the whole district has harvested over 80% of the area, and it is expected that the winter-spring rice crop will be completely harvested in the next 10 days. Also in the joy of a good harvest, many corn growers in My Son commune are also busy harvesting. The whole commune planted 736 hectares of corn, mainly hybrid corn. Thanks to the attention paid to seed selection, care, and proper pest control, most of the corn area has grown and developed well. Most of the farmers here have cooperated with businesses, so the output of their products is guaranteed, and there is no need to worry about prices.
This winter-spring crop, Mr. Ho Sy Duong's family in Nha Ho 2 village planted more than 5 sao of corn, mainly the hybrid corn variety VN667. Mr. Duong was excited: Right from the beginning of the season, I cooperated with Nha Ho Seed Joint Stock Company, so the selling price was stable at 13,000 VND/kg of corn, so I focused on taking care of the corn to achieve the highest yield. Before planting, I proactively used machinery and equipment to pump water and carry out the care process according to the instructions of the seed manufacturer, balanced fertilization and fertilization at the right time for the plants. This year, the corn crop was better than every year, the grains were firm, large and even. The average yield was 6.5 quintals/sao, so the profit was also better than every year.
Not only in key rice and corn production areas such as Luong Son and My Son, in the communes of Nhon Son, Tan Son, Quang Son, Lam Son, etc., many types of vegetables, beans, and other annual crops are grown, which also give high yields, along with increased selling prices, helping farmers increase their income. According to data from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Son district, in the 2024 winter-spring crop, the whole district has over 10,000 hectares of cultivated land, with an area of proactive irrigation reaching about 82%. Of which, there are 3,219 hectares of rice, 1,477 hectares of corn and grain crops, the rest are vegetables, melons, beans of all kinds and medicinal plants... In order to produce effectively, from the beginning of the crop, the district's agricultural sector directed localities to regularly monitor the weather to recommend appropriate planting structures and seasons. Strengthen inspection and management of agricultural input materials (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.); Review and develop plans to prevent and combat drought, and change crop structure for areas without proactive water sources. Strengthen direction on the application of technical measures to improve productivity and quality. Strengthen the organization of production and product consumption linkages...
According to forecasts, the upcoming summer-autumn crop will face many difficulties, and severe drought may occur. Therefore, Ninh Son farmers are urgently taking advantage of sunny days to quickly harvest winter-spring rice, cleaning the fields and preparing the soil as soon as they are harvested, taking advantage of the season, proactively preventing and combating drought to prepare for the upcoming summer-autumn crop.
