Reading and reading culture have been frequently discussed in recent years, as the number of readers visiting traditional libraries has been declining. Even in school activities, cafes, and other venues, the most common sight is people glued to their phone screens, engrossed in games and entertainment.
Faced with the challenges of the digital age, which has led to the emergence of many new forms of reading such as audiobooks, interactive books, and especially e-books, many agencies, organizations, and individuals have actively participated in developing a reading culture based on the application of technology.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Library, said: In response to Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day 2024, the Provincial Library is organizing promotional activities in two forms: direct and online. Specifically, the direct channel includes exhibition booths showcasing books by theme; and an exhibition of artistic book stacking models located at the Provincial Library. In addition, the unit is coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications to organize a "Reading Culture Festival" using a mobile multimedia library vehicle at Dong Giang Primary and Secondary School (Ham Thuan Bac district) and supporting activities in the school system at several schools in Tuy Phong, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam districts and Phan Thiet city.

Simultaneously, an online book fair themed "Good Books Need You to Read, Valuable Books Are Gifts for You" is being held at hoisachtructuyen.thuvienbinhthuan.com.vn. The fair runs until April 30th and includes activities on the website such as: e-books on the Binh Thuan Gazetteer, introductions to digital information services such as audiobooks, storytelling based on books, children's stories, new books, and selected good books. With just a smartphone, anyone can access a huge library of high-quality books from publishers nationwide, currently on sale at discounted prices on the websites of bookstores like Fahasa and Phuong Nam, or read books online for free on websites like sachvui.com, sachhayonline.com, and metaisach.com.
Information about the online book fair is available on the Provincial Library website.
In particular, the online book fair also integrates a collection of audiobooks with over 200 videos covering a wide range of topics including children's books, travel, book reviews, and more. This is of great significance for modern readers who have limited time or live in areas with limited access to traditional bookstores. As a result, from the beginning of April until now, the Provincial Library has recorded nearly 223,000 visits from readers both in-person and online via the website and the Provincial Library's Fanpage.

Regarding this new format, reader Thuc Anh (Phu Thuy ward) commented: "The online book fair has proven useful and suitable for the current times, creating great opportunities for publishing and distribution companies to bring high-quality products to the public. It also encourages a reading culture in the community."
The concept of reading and reading culture in the digital age is undergoing a certain transformation. Therefore, the activities promoted by the Provincial Library and specialized units in April will help readers, especially young readers and teenagers, understand the role, position, and importance of books in learning, training, and enhancing knowledge. From there, they can choose appropriate reading methods and times, making reading a habit and a beautiful cultural aspect of life.
