Recently, Thanh Hoa Provincial Library has implemented many activities to develop reading culture in the community. Among them, promoting reading culture in the community, especially among students, through events and reading festivals. The content of the promotion focuses on the role and importance of books and introducing good and new books to the community.
One of the ways that the Provincial Library focuses on is to build a flexible and widespread library system; innovate activities at libraries and facilities. In the reading rooms of the library, in addition to reading and searching for documents, the Provincial Library also organizes diversified forms of service for readers such as organizing exhibitions and exhibitions of specialized books on the occasion of major holidays of the homeland and the country in visual forms and on the Internet. To help readers grasp information about books, the Provincial Library introduces new books through book introductions and specialized introductions. In particular, it creates many useful activities related to books for children. During the summer, each week, choose a theme and organize activities such as folk games, creative corners, drawing, making handmade crafts; fun learning - fun reading activities (telling stories from books, reading books and writing feelings, reading books and answering questions); children have fun experiencing different professions...
In addition, to serve blind readers, the Provincial Library maintains a reading room for the blind with nearly 160 braille books, more than 500 audio book CDs in many different fields, 5 computers connected to the internet and specialized equipment, supporting the search and use of documents for blind readers...
Identifying that the book warehouse plays an important role in attracting readers, every year the Provincial Library has expanded its links and connections with authors, publishers, and bookstores to organize programs to introduce good books, rare books, new books, and mobilize sources of good books and new books. At the same time, it allocates funds to supplement new books; mobilizes all resources to support books and newspapers for the library, and improves the quantity and quality of books, newspapers, and magazines at the library. In the first 9 months of 2024, the Provincial Library supplemented and technically processed 14,398 copies of books; supplemented 172 newspapers and magazines, and collected 183 copies of geographical documents.
To bring books closer to the community, the Provincial Library has coordinated with schools, localities, and prisons to organize reading festivals and provide mobile library services. Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Library has provided mobile library services to 45 schools in the province. Along with providing mobile library services, the Provincial Library has organized reading festivals at schools and localities. The activities of mobile library vehicles and reading festivals have created a new space and environment for students and people to access many good books, arousing interest in reading and effectively practicing reading skills for people.
Along with diversifying activities and building book warehouses, the Provincial Library has focused on building and consolidating the system of grassroots bookcases. Every year, the Provincial Library regularly rotates books and newspapers to bookcases, libraries, and reading rooms at grassroots levels in the province. In order for book circulation to be effective, the Provincial Library constantly selects and supplements document funds, and builds a rotating book warehouse. In the process of rotating books to serve the grassroots level, the Provincial Library staff proactively surveys the needs of readers to select and supplement document funds to the rotating warehouse to suit the needs of the grassroots level. Therefore, the books in the rotating warehouse have rich content, meeting the needs of readers. In addition to book circulation, library staff also guide grassroots libraries on how to build and arrange scientific bookcases and warehouses to attract readers; guide how to organize reading activities and introduce books to the people.
In addition, the Provincial Library also actively mobilizes people, especially students, to participate in the "Reading Culture Ambassador" Contest; encourages schools to build models of "Green Library", "Smart Library", localities, hospitals, and prisons to build bookcases to contribute to arousing passion for books, building reading habits, and gradually forming a reading culture in the community.

Promoting the achieved results, the Provincial Library will continue to innovate its activities, build bookcases in the community, expand links with publishers and bookstores to enrich document sources, improve the quantity and quality of books, newspapers and magazines.
