Over the years, Ben Luc District Library has constantly innovated its activities and improved its service quality to attract readers. The library regularly adds documents, books, newspapers and organizes exhibitions and book introductions to readers, contributing to arousing and promoting the reading habit of local people.
Located in the grounds of the Nguyen Huu Tho Lawyer Memorial Area, the District Library has an open space, suitable for readers to borrow and read books on the spot. In recent times, the Library has received attention from the District People's Committee, allocating funds to invest in facilities, as well as purchasing equipment to serve readers. Up to now, the total number of books and newspapers served at the Library is 5,242 copies. In the past year, 1,770 new books and newspapers were added and circulated to serve readers. In addition to arranging an ideal reading space, the Library staff regularly organizes book classification, sticks barcodes on documents to help readers easily look up, as well as manage books more closely.
Ms. Ho Thi Anh Truc - District Library staff said: “In recent years, Nguyen Huu Tho Library, belonging to the Center for Culture, Information and Broadcasting of Ben Luc district, Long An province, has implemented many activities to attract readers and develop a reading culture in the community. The library regularly writes articles introducing good books and posts them on the Nguyen Huu Tho Temple Fanpage, organizes competitions on Book Storytelling, Artistic Book Arrangement, Reading and Writing Book Reviews, Online Competitions... to create a useful playground, arouse a passion for reading and form reading habits, especially for children. The main readers of the library are children, so the library always focuses on building a rich, diverse and age-appropriate source of documents such as: Children's literature books; Life skills education books; Science and discovery books; Reference books for learning. And especially indispensable are Comics and picture books: such as Doraemon, Than Dong Dat Viet, Conan; Picture books with engaging content and vivid illustrations for preschool and primary school children.
To form the habit and arouse the passion for reading for readers, the Library organizes many activities such as: displaying beautiful books; issuing free reading cards; serving books and newspapers by topics;,... to meet the needs of readers, especially students. With the motto "Books find readers", the District Library also maintains the form of book rotation to libraries of communes and towns and coordinates with the Provincial Library to organize a mobile "Knowledge Bus" at schools in the area. In 2024, the Library attracted nearly 2,700 people to read and borrow books.
