(kontumtv.vn) - Implementing the Resolution of the 17th District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025 on crop restructuring , in recent times, the Party committees and local authorities of Sa Thay district have implemented many effective solutions. Thanks to that, ethnic minorities in the area have actively converted crop structure towards commodity production, increasing economic value on production land area.
Thanks to propaganda, guidance and loan support, Mr. A Ber's family in Khuk Na village, Sa Binh commune has had a stable income from more than 1 hectare of coffee. In 2024, the family will continue to receive support with 100 durian seedlings to intercrop in the coffee garden. Mr. A Ber said: “The Party Committee here is propagating for our people to change to growing coffee, durian, and other high-value crops to sustainably eliminate poverty in the future. In the future, we will learn and multiply it among other households. The government cares about us, if we follow the right way of taking care of the trees, our future will change a lot.”
Sa Binh commune has 54% of ethnic minority population. Determining that crop restructuring is an important factor, deciding to improve the lives of people, especially ethnic minorities, in the past term, the local Party Committee and government have strengthened solutions to mobilize ethnic minorities to convert ineffective crop areas to industrial crops, fruit trees with high economic value associated with changing thinking and working methods. In particular, the locality focuses on promoting the leadership role of party organizations and party members in villages and hamlets.
Up to now, Sa Binh commune has developed nearly 1,400 hectares of perennial trees, an increase of 1.5 times compared to the beginning of the term, including many areas of fruit trees such as durian and macadamia, bringing high economic efficiency. Thanks to that, the average income per capita of the commune increased from 21.6 million VND in 2020 to more than 50 million VND in 2024, exceeding nearly 3 million VND compared to the Resolution. Mr. Duong Van Thanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Binh commune, said: " For ethnic minority areas, people's awareness has been raised, so they have taken advantage of all land resources that were previously abandoned, especially cassava growing areas. People take advantage of water areas, dig wells to grow fruit trees; ethnic minority households have 1 hectare, households have 5 hectares, bringing about exciting results."
In line with the Resolution of the 17th District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025 on economic development, Sa Thay district has developed many projects such as renovating mixed gardens; applying high technology in agricultural production associated with the Campaign "Changing the thinking and working methods of ethnic minorities, helping ethnic minorities to escape poverty sustainably". Along with effectively promoting the support resources of the State, the locality has done a good job of mobilizing socialized resources to support thousands of ethnic minority households to convert ineffective crop areas to crops with high economic efficiency. Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Sa Thay district, said: " Regularly propagandize, mobilize and guide people to bring in new crops; especially durian, macadamia, fruit trees, invest in irrigation systems, apply drip irrigation systems to increase productivity. Support seedlings, livestock, and technical guidance so that people have the motivation to boldly invest in converting crop structure to increase economic efficiency."
Up to now, most of the targets for developing perennial crop areas in Sa Thay district have been achieved and exceeded the set plan. Currently, the district has nearly 20,000 hectares of perennial crops; of which, the area of fruit trees has developed rapidly, more than 2,700 hectares, exceeding nearly 1,900 hectares. Thanks to that, over the past 5 years, the locality has had more than 3,600 ethnic minority households escape poverty; many households have stable and high incomes from converting crop structure./.
