The Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway construction project is of special importance to connect the expressway network in the Mekong Delta region, meeting the demand for freight transport to key economic regions of the country, creating momentum for the development of the Mekong Delta region in general and Dong Thap in particular.

Cao Lanh-An Huu Expressway Phase 1 has a total length of 27.4km. The starting point intersects with My An - Cao Lanh Expressway in Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province; the end point intersects with the Central - My Thuan Expressway in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province. The project is divided into 4 lanes, 17m wide roadbed, operating speed is 80km/h with a total investment of about 5,800 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The Cao Lanh-An Huu Expressway Project is divided into 2 components. Of which: Component project 1: 16km long, from Km 0 to Km 16+000, located entirely in Dong Thap province, with a total investment of over 3,600 billion VND. Component project 2, from Km 16+000 to Km 27+430, 11.4km long, located in Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces with an investment of over 2,200 billion VND. The preliminary total investment of the project is about 5,800 billion VND. Component project 1 has 533 households in the project area with a recovered land area of ​​over 101 hectares. Up to now, 513/533 households in 8 communes of Cao Lanh district have come to receive compensation and land allocation for the project, reaching a rate of over 96%.

When completed, the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway will connect with the North-South expressway in the East along the vertical axis, including: Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan - Can Tho - Ca Mau. In the West, it will connect with the North-South expressway under construction, including: Ho Chi Minh road - My An - Cao Lanh - Lo Te - Rach Soi.
