The conferences took place in the context of the world and regional situation from the beginning of 2023 until now continuing to witness rapid and complex movements. ASEAN is facing both challenges and opportunities.
The world economy is forecast to grow more positively, but the pace is still uncertain due to financial risks, inflation, and geopolitical instability. Competition between countries, especially large countries, is becoming more intense and extensive. The Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions are both the focus of growth and the focus of competition. The situation in the East Sea, Myanmar, the Korean Peninsula, and the conflict in Ukraine remains complicated.
Despite many challenges both internally and externally, the ASEAN Community has basically maintained solidarity, moving towards the Association's development strategy until 2045, as well as affirming its central role in the region.
With the theme "ASEAN at the heart of growth", the Indonesian Chair actively promoted many priorities and initiatives to support sustainable economic growth in the region, enhance ASEAN's capacity and operational efficiency, both creating momentum for ASEAN cooperation and consolidating ASEAN's role as a leading force in dialogue and cooperation processes for peace, stability and sustainable development in the region.
Relations between ASEAN and its partners continue to expand and deepen. Partners support ASEAN's central role, value and desire substantive and long-term cooperation with ASEAN, through many practical initiatives and expanding cooperation in many potential areas.
