Prime Minister directs to best implement policies for the family of the heroic Lieutenant Colonel who sacrificed while saving people.

Telegram sent to: Ministers of the Ministries of National Defense, Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities. The telegram clearly states:

At about 4:30 p.m. on September 1, 2023, while inspecting, grasping the local situation, ensuring security and order, and being ready to fight during the National Day holiday at Dong Be beach in Vinh Hoa hamlet, Xuan Thinh commune, Song Cau town, Phu Yen province, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Military Command of Song Cau town, Phu Yen province discovered two people being swept away by the waves, swam out to bring the victims to shore and then heroically sacrificed. On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his condolences to the relatives and family of Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky and gave the following instructions:

1. The Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, and the People's Committee of Phu Yen province direct the organization of thoughtful visits, encouragement, and timely measures to provide material and spiritual support to relatives and family of Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky; and best implement policies for military officers and families of officers who died while on duty.

2. Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities shall direct functional forces to step up propaganda, guidance and strict implementation of Official Dispatch No. 398/CD-TTg dated May 2, 2022 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the prevention and control of child drowning; direct the strengthening of measures to ensure the safety of people and tourists at beaches and tourist areas, and prevent similar cases from happening. Regularly inspect and urge to promptly detect violations of safety assurance, prevention and control of drowning, and strictly handle them in accordance with the provisions of law./.
