The Prime Minister requested to closely monitor the supply and demand developments and market prices of important and essential goods and services after Tet to promptly have solutions to balance supply and demand and stabilize prices.
On the afternoon of February 3, the first working day after the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Government Standing Committee with ministries and branches to assess the Tet situation and deploy key tasks after Tet.
Attending the conference were Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, leaders of ministries, branches and government agencies.
The Government assessed that in order to prepare well for the people to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025, ministries, agencies, localities, and functional forces have seriously implemented the directives of the Secretariat and the Prime Minister on organizing the Lunar New Year 2025.
Localities, ministries and branches take care of the material and spiritual life of the people, not letting anyone go without Tet; fully and promptly implementing social security policies; focusing on activities of gratitude and affection towards war invalids, families of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution. During Tet, support and gifts were given to over 13.5 million people with a total cost of over 7,943 billion VND.
In particular, many localities have actively implemented the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses; many people have been able to celebrate Tet in new houses. The whole country has supported 6,962 houses for people with revolutionary contributions; supported 35,466 houses under the Temporary and Dilapidated House Elimination Program.
Goods during Tet are abundant, quality is guaranteed, prices are stable, especially essential goods. Purchasing power during Tet is estimated to increase by 10% compared to normal months and compared to Tet 2024.
The functional forces implemented the work plan, strengthened the prevention and combat of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; effectively prevented the situation of banned and smuggled goods; during the Lunar New Year, no unusual developments were detected.
People's health care is well implemented. Traffic is basically smooth, violations of traffic order and safety are strictly handled. Political security and national sovereignty are maintained; social order and safety are ensured. Regulations on practicing thrift, fighting waste, preventing and combating corruption and negativity are strictly implemented.
During Tet, there were 411 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 191 people and injuring 354 people, a decrease of 38 to 40% in the number of cases, deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024.
Lunar New Year activities are associated with activities to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025). Cultural activities and festivals take place vibrantly, are managed and organized in accordance with regulations, imbued with national identity, ensuring a civilized lifestyle; tourism activities continue to flourish, the whole country serves 12.5 million domestic visitors.
People celebrated the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025 in a joyful, healthy, safe, economical, and affectionate atmosphere; everyone and every family had the opportunity to enjoy the Spring and celebrate Tet. Overseas Vietnamese returned home in large numbers to celebrate Tet and our overseas Vietnamese celebrated Tet joyfully and enthusiastically.
Many factories maintained operations and production throughout Tet to ensure orders; many key national projects were constructed throughout Tet to speed up progress. In particular, the Prime Minister visited and encouraged forces working throughout Tet at construction sites, border gates, border posts, etc., creating a bustling working and production atmosphere right from the first days of the new year.
Concluding the conference, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Party's founding (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), on behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that our Party has no other and higher goal than bringing a prosperous and happy life to the people; has led our nation and people from one victory to another; won and maintained independence, freedom, and territorial integrity; built the country to achieve historic victories so that "Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position, and international prestige as today," creating the premise and foundation for the country to enter a new era - an era of strong, prosperous, civilized development and an increasingly prosperous and happy life for the people; at the same time, continuing to innovate the Party's leadership method, including the decision to establish the Government Party Committee - the first Government Party Committee since the Party's founding.
Wishing the people a joyful, exciting, meaningful, healthy, safe, "warm inside, peaceful outside" Lunar New Year 2025, every family has Tet, the whole country has Tet, the Prime Minister assessed that during the Lunar New Year At Ty, people's health care work was ensured; social security work was carried out thoughtfully and practically; Tet market goods were abundant, diverse, prices were stable; traffic safety and order and communication were ensured and smooth; cultural, sports, tourism and information and propaganda activities were widely organized, bringing material and spiritual life to the people.
Political security, social order and safety are ensured; independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity are firmly protected; foreign affairs are proactively and actively deployed; the policy of practicing thrift and combating waste is strictly implemented.
"The organization of preparation and celebration of Tet must ensure joy, health, warmth, thrift, affection, peace, safety, security, every family has Tet, achieving the set goals according to the direction of the Secretariat, the Government, and the Prime Minister; creating an exciting, enthusiastic atmosphere, creating momentum, creating force, creating momentum, and inspiration for the whole nation to enter 2025," the Prime Minister affirmed.
The Prime Minister said that the Government Party Committee will soon hold its first conference; right after Tet is also the festival season, along with implementing regular tasks, it must be well organized so that people can participate in joyful, healthy, safe festivals, fighting superstition, waste, etc.
The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to strictly implement 13 main groups of tasks and 67 specific tasks that need to be focused on immediately after Tet as proposed by the Government Office and agreed by Government members. In particular, closely monitor the supply and demand developments, market prices of important and essential goods and services after Tet to promptly have solutions to balance supply and demand, stabilize market prices; urgently complete investment procedures, specifically allocate the 2025 Public Investment Plan; review and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for each project during the implementation process, especially important national projects and works, and national target programs.
In particular, continue to accelerate the implementation of strategic transport projects, airports, seaports, highways, inter-regional and inter-provincial projects, striving to exceed the target of having 3,000 km of expressways by the end of 2025.
Ministries and branches resolutely and effectively carry out the work of streamlining the organizational apparatus according to the direction of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Prime Minister; perfect the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational apparatus of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government after streamlining.
Ministries, sectors and localities carry out environmental protection activities, organize Tet tree planting, restore ecosystems, prevent and combat natural disasters, saltwater intrusion, respond to climate change, protect wildlife; focus on developing culture, education, health, labor and employment; pay attention to implementing measures to ensure labor safety; well implement social security policies, determined to complete the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025.
At the same time, urgently complete the work of proposing the 2026 Law and Ordinance Development Program, draft laws under the 2025 Law and Ordinance Development Program, and documents detailing laws and resolutions that come into effect; carefully prepare contents for the 9th Extraordinary Session of the 14th National Assembly; continue to urgently, seriously, synchronously and effectively implement tasks and solutions approved by the Central Government, the National Assembly, the Government and the Prime Minister, strongly promote production and business activities, create jobs and livelihoods for people, and strive to achieve the growth target of 8% or more in 2025./.
