The Ministry of Health has just received 72,300 doses of DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine (the “5 in 1” vaccine) donated by a business to the Expanded Immunization Program, to provide free vaccinations to poor children in the northern mountainous region.
Along with that, 185,700 doses of “5 in 1” vaccine donated to Vietnam by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund have also arrived in Hanoi. All of these vaccines will be quickly inspected and then distributed to localities to serve the expanded vaccination program for children.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health assigned the Department of Preventive Medicine and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to continue supporting localities in expanded immunization work to ensure safe vaccination.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong said that due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the policy on budget decentralization, there has been a disruption in the supply of imported vaccines, with a "delay" in the supply of imported vaccines.
Recently, in order to promptly meet the demand for the "5 in 1" vaccine for children under 1 year old, the Ministry of Health has proactively discussed with the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund, and relevant domestic units and has received enthusiastic support.
