Accordingly, to strengthen the implementation of regular vaccination activities and catch-up vaccinations for children who have not been fully vaccinated during the period of shortage of some vaccines, to enhance community immunity for children and women, and proactively prevent infectious diseases in the winter - spring of 2024, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (Ministry of Health) has allocated some types of vaccines to provinces and cities.

It is known that previously, Thai Binh province was allocated 6,700 doses of DPT-VGB-Hib vaccine (a "5-in-1" combination vaccine that protects against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B and Hib type b (Hib) bacteria).
To effectively implement vaccination work, after the vaccine was available, the Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control of Thai Binh province sent documents to districts, cities, and hospitals to review, organize regular vaccination, and supplementary vaccinations in the expanded vaccination program according to the instructions of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
For hepatitis B vaccine, it is given to newborns within the first 24 hours after birth. Maintain regular vaccination of vaccines in the expanded immunization program that has been provided since January 2024...
At the same time, localities notify parents to take their children to get enough vaccinations in the expanded immunization program to prevent diseases. Give catch-up shots for children under 1 year old in 2023; Review subjects who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated with vaccines in the expanded immunization program according to the immunization schedule, including children over 1 year old, and organize catch-up shots for subjects to soon achieve vaccination coverage of over 90%.
In addition, for the DPT vaccine against whooping cough - diphtheria - tetanus, localities will review children in 2023 who have not been vaccinated with DPT and need to promptly perform catch-up injections. The health sector requires vaccination facilities to organize vaccinations to ensure safety according to issued guidelines, especially complying with pre-vaccination screening, paying attention to counseling and instructing family members on how to care for and monitor children after vaccination.
Previously, Vietnam was in a state of vaccine shortage in the Expanded Immunization Program, causing many children to be unable to get vaccinated on schedule, according to the Expanded Immunization Program schedule.
To supplement vaccines, the Ministry of Health has mobilized support from international organizations to provide 5-in-1 vaccines (DPT-VGB-Hib) and has received 490,600 doses of DPT-VGB-Hib vaccines sponsored by the Australian government for Vietnam through the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
It is known that currently, on average, each month, the vaccination capacity at expanded vaccination sites in our country can administer about 200,000 doses, so with the number of vaccines sponsored by the Australian Government, it is expected to be administered in about 2.5 months.
