The beauty did not need to win the audience vote to have a chance to be in the top. This partly proves Ky Duyen’s remarkable efforts in the competition.
This year marks 20 years since Vietnam sent its first contestant to the Miss Universe beauty pageant. Over the past two years, Vietnam’s representative has consistently failed to place in the top 10. Therefore, Ky Duyen’s achievement this season is of great significance in bringing Vietnam back to the top 10 of Miss Universe.

In the semi-finals, Ky Duyen caused controversy with her catwalk performance that was judged to lack highlights. However, she overcame this in the final night. The top 12 of Miss Universe 2024 includes South American representatives with advantages in body shape and performance skills. The only Asian representative in the top 12 is a Thai beauty, who is also the runner-up of this year's contest.

Up to this point, the best achievement of Vietnam's representative at Miss Universe is the top 5 of beauty H'Hen Niê in the 2018 season. Her personality short hair, brown skin considered to be a deviation from beauty standards and impressive catwalk steps helped H'Hen Niê go straight into the final top 5.
In 2018, H'Hen Niê also won the Timeless Beauty award, voted by Missosology. This proves that H'Hen Niê's beauty and ability are undeniable.
In addition to H'Hen Nie's achievements, in recent years, Vietnam also had Hoang Thuy in the top 20 of Miss Universe 2019, Khanh Van in the top 21 of Miss Universe 2020 (thanks to votes) and Kim Duyen in the top 16 of Miss Universe 2021 (thanks to votes).
