Thai Binh: Mobilizing all forces to overcome power grid problems caused by storm No. 3

Storm No. 3 made landfall, causing heavy damage to property and assets in Thai Binh province, including major damage to the power grid infrastructure, causing power outages on four 110kV lines; 115 medium-voltage lines had problems; and 325,605 customers lost power.

Immediately after the storm passed, the leaders of Thai Binh Power Company directed officers and workers to be present in areas with power grid problems to deploy solutions to restore power lines and transformer stations damaged by storm No. 3. The leaders of the province, districts, cities, and the Northern Power Corporation came to inspect and encourage officers and workers in the power sector to work day and night to overcome the problem to quickly restore power to serve people's daily life and production.

According to initial statistics, the whole province suffered damage to 17 medium-voltage grid distribution cabinets; 3 transformers; 81 medium-voltage poles; 53 medium-voltage beams; 297 medium-voltage insulators; 399 low-voltage poles; 33 low-voltage beams; 208 meter cabinets; 296 meters; and 18 capacitors.

Thai Thuy is a coastal district. When storm No. 3 made landfall, it caused damage to the power grid infrastructure in the area, including a power outage on the 22kV medium voltage line and the 35kV station from the 110kV Thai Thuy and 110kV Thai Hung transformer stations. Many medium voltage and low voltage poles were broken, fell, and had their wires cut.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chung, Director of Thai Thuy Electricity Company said: Immediately after the storm, under the direction of the Board of Directors of Thai Binh Electricity Company, officers and workers of Thai Thuy Electricity Company actively deployed and promptly arrived to handle incidents of fallen trees on power lines, clear the corridors of the power lines, handle broken power poles, and wires that were broken off the power poles. Workers fixing power grid problems worked all night to provide power to customers as soon as possible, especially to supply power to drainage pumping stations and hospitals. In particular, on September 8, Thai Thuy Electricity Company restored power to He pumping station, Khai Lai pumping station and Thuy Nguyen pumping station to operate drainage for rice fields, crops, and aquaculture areas in a timely manner. By the morning of September 10, 16 power lines had been restored, such as: 471E11.2; 371E11.2; 481E11.2; 473E11.14; 471DT... only part of Thuy Tan, Thai Tho communes and 2 communes of Thuy Hung, Thuy Viet remain, the electricity sector continues to handle incidents to restore power to the people as soon as possible.

Not only in Thai Thuy district, in localities such as Tien Hai, Kien Xuong, Dong Hung, Vu Thu, Quynh Phu, Hung Ha, and the City, hundreds of workers and technicians in the electricity industry are working hard to restore the power grid in many areas. Many power lines are gradually being repaired, returning to their previous state, ready to provide normal power.

Mr. Dang Trung Kien, Kien Xuong Electricity Company shared: In the past few days, our electricity workers have been trying our best, regardless of day or night, to complete the assigned tasks. Hard work is inevitable, especially working at night, but the workers always encourage each other to overcome difficulties, taking advantage of every minute to soon connect the power to serve the people. During the working process, we always pay special attention to ensuring labor safety for ourselves, our colleagues and the people.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chung, Director of Dong Hung Power Company, said: Dong Hung Power Company is managing 1 35/10.5kV intermediate station, 570 transformer stations, 13 medium-voltage lines, including 4 35kV lines, 7 22kV lines and 2 10kV lines with a total line length of 354.71km. Up to now, Dong Hung Power Company has restored the entire medium-voltage grid supplied from Chau Giang 110kV station, Long Boi 110kV station and Thang Long intermediate station, the 400V low-voltage grid has restored power supply to 70,000 customers. In the coming days, the unit will continue to mobilize human and material resources to complete power supply to all customers in the district.

The damage to the power grid infrastructure after storm No. 3 was enormous. Thai Binh Power Company has issued instructions and plans to proactively respond, overcome and handle the situation quickly and effectively.

In Quynh Phu district, out of a total of 10 damaged power lines; 179 broken power poles; 152 damaged porcelain equipment; 1 transformer station, 52 meter cabinets affected, in just 2 days of September 8-9, Quynh Phu Electricity Company had a quick solution to handle the grid problem to restore power to the people.

Mr. Dao Quoc Thuan, Director of Quynh Phu Power Company, said: By the morning of September 10, the unit had connected power to 233 transformer stations and restored power to 59,643 customers. To fix the power grid system in the area, Quynh Phu Power Company mobilized 86 workers with vehicles and machinery to coordinate with 4 construction units regardless of day or night.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Director of Thai Binh Electricity Company, said: Immediately after storm No. 3 passed, Thai Binh Electricity Company mobilized all human and material resources according to the "4 on-site" principle to quickly approach the incident sites and deploy solutions to restore power supply. The work was carried out from noon until late at night, making efforts to overcome difficulties to promptly handle incidents and damages caused by natural disasters. Of which, 4 110kV lines were restored; 102 medium-voltage lines; power supply to 24 drainage pumping stations, some priority loads such as hospitals, government agency headquarters to serve the direction and operation work. Power was restored to over 300,000 customers who suffered power outages caused by storm No. 3.

On the afternoon of September 9, at the inspection of the situation of overcoming storm No. 3, comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue, and other provincial leaders welcomed the electricity sector for quickly mobilizing forces and means to overcome the incidents, soon providing electricity to important areas and electricity for people's daily life and production. The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control requested the electricity sector to continue mobilizing forces, materials and means regardless of day or night to overcome the incidents and restore electricity to some remaining areas in the fastest time to serve the daily life and production of people in the whole province.
