Kinhtedothi - It is expected to take 2 to 3 weeks to repair the cracked houses on Giang Van Minh Street. Based on initial assessments, the cracks do not affect the structure and there is no risk of these houses collapsing.
During the construction of the tunnel section of the city's pilot urban railway project, Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station, the project used a modern geotechnical monitoring system to closely monitor ground movement and subsidence. The monitoring data was processed at the field office and carefully analyzed at the contractor's headquarters in Italy and Korea.
On February 27, data showed that some areas had subsidence exceeding the warning threshold, so, according to the highest safety principle, it was decided to relocate 11 additional houses, including 17 households in lane 7, Giang Van Minh street. Previously, 4 households had been temporarily relocated according to the original plan of the project.
On February 27, the project investor coordinated with local authorities to organize a meeting with residents at Kim Ma Ward People's Committee to discuss and agree on a plan to relocate affected residents.
Before starting construction, the investor required the contractor to purchase third-party liability insurance. As soon as signs of impact were detected, the insurance company conducted a survey, assessment and statistics to make compensation for damaged houses.
Regarding the issue of some houses being cracked on Giang Van Minh Street, Ba Dinh District, Mr. Salvatore La Valle - Head of TBM Engineering Team, HGU Contractor said: "When the tunnel boring machine goes underneath, it creates pressure in the excavation chamber, causing the geology to become unstable and leading to cracks appearing on the walls of houses."
According to Mr. Salvatore La Valle, the contractor will carry out repairs to the affected houses. The repair is expected to take 2 to 3 weeks. The construction unit will continue to assess the current condition of these houses to find the best solution for the residents.
“We have observed these houses before, through initial assessment, this cracking does not affect the structure nor is there a risk of collapse for the houses on Giang Van Minh Street. Currently, we are reinforcing the ground below. After reinforcing the ground, we will evaluate the entire structure of the houses and make a final conclusion about the time when people can return to their homes” – Mr. Salvatore La Valle added.
