An Hoa Border Control Station received a report from Ms. Tran Thi My Luat (residing in Tam Giang commune, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam) saying that her husband, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tien, owner and captain of the QNa-91405-TS boat, called to report that the fishing boat QNa-91679-TS owned by Mr. Phan Van Thanh (born in 1971, residing in Tam Giang commune) had sunk.
Upon discovering the incident, three Quang Nam fishing boats operating nearby came to search for the fishermen in distress. By the morning of March 22, 11 fishermen from fishing boat QNa-91679-TS had been found, of whom one had died; the boats are continuing to search for the four missing.
Through verification from the authorities, the deceased fisherman was Mr. Nguyen Luan (born in 1966, residing in Tam Quang commune). The four missing fishermen include Mr. Phan Van Yen (born in 1996), Phan Van Tuyet (born in 1966), Luong Thai Hoang (born in 1970, all residing in Tam Giang commune) and Bui Van Thanh (born in 1973, residing in Tam Quang commune).
A representative of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that the Office of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee is continuing to request the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, the Navy General Staff, the Coast Guard General Staff and fishing vessels in the area to deploy measures to search for the remaining four crew members.
Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also issued Document No. 69/BNNMT-DD dated March 13, 2025 to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Kien Giang on proactively responding to strong winds at sea.
On the day and night of March 22, the Northeast area of the East Sea will have strong Northeast winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, waves from 2.0-4.0m high; the sea area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau and the western sea area of the South East Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa archipelago) will have strong Northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves from 3.0-5.0m high.
