Raising black apple snails (snails) with available food, no need to spend money on buying pet food
After more than 4 years of implementing the black apple snail farming model, Mr. Tien currently owns a farm with a scale of over 1,000m2, specializing in providing black apple snails to the market.
Mr. Tien said that the first year, he bought snail seeds to raise, but the results were not as expected because the productivity was very low. Despite losing money, thanks to his family's encouragement and his own efforts, Mr. Tien decided to go to effective snail farms to learn about their experience and farming techniques.
According to Mr. Tien, raising black apple snails is quite easy, the initial investment capital is low, and the food source for snails is mostly taken advantage of in nature available in the garden, such as vegetables, grass, duckweed, leaves, etc.
However, to successfully raise snails for beginners, it is necessary to have a good understanding of the techniques and food for black apple snails. In addition to food, such as water fern, water hyacinth, water spinach, seaweed, moss, water spinach, sweet potato leaves, Malabar spinach, squash, etc.
You can also feed black apple snails with additional foods, such as: rice bran powder, soybean powder, corn powder, fish powder... which have high nutritional content to help snails grow faster.

Black apple snails usually lay eggs at night on the edge of ponds or on duckweed. After 8-12 hours, the eggshells are dry and then collected and placed in plastic trays placed on the water surface in a styrofoam box. Spray water daily to keep the eggs moist. After 15-20 days, the snail eggs hatch. The snails are raised for another 14 days before they can be sold as seeds.

Mr. Tien added that if raising snails commercially, the water source must be clean and not affected by agricultural or industrial waste...
Before releasing the fish, it is necessary to carefully prepare the pond and tank by dredging, cleaning, spreading lime powder to neutralize pH, clearing the pond banks, and cleaning up weeds and trash...
At the same time, it is necessary to plant water spinach, duckweed... to both provide shelter and natural food for snails. The average stocking density is 80-100 snails/m2, depending on actual conditions, the density can be increased to 200-300 snails/m2.
With more than 1,000m2, Mr. Tien's black apple snail farm is designed into separate farming areas, such as: Breeding, reproduction, incubation, snail breeding, commercial snail farming... Mr. Tien shared that black apple snails are less susceptible to disease and reproduce quickly.
Black apple snail farming supply cannot meet demand
Mr. Tien shared that the current output of black apple snails is very good and stable. In the current market, the supply of his black apple snails cannot meet the demand. Every month, he has to breed new snails to restore the herd in order to have enough quantity to supply to customers.

Each harvest, he sells for more than 60,000 VND/kg. After harvesting, he delivers the snails to traders and restaurants around the area.
"Supply cannot meet demand because the snails I raise have good meat quality, clear origin, and guaranteed freshness. Currently, I deliver snail seeds to many places in the province along with technical support for snail farming for farmers," Mr. Tien confided.
According to Mr. Tien, due to high consumer demand, in the near future, he will invest in expanding the black apple snail farming pond.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Danh, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Duc Lap Ha commune, Duc Hoa district, Long An province, said that Mr. Tien's black apple snail farming model is one of the models that brings high economic efficiency.
This is a model to give people more options in converting crops and livestock, not depending on traditional livestock in the locality. The Commune Farmers' Association is replicating the model among farmers to create livelihoods and increase income...
