Vietnam Rubber Industry Group supports Dien Bien to overcome natural disaster consequences

In order to promptly share the difficulties with workers and people of Dien Bien affected by storms and flash floods, this afternoon (September 17), the working delegation of the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group led by comrade Ha Van Khuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group, visited and provided support in Dien Bien. Receiving and working with the delegation, there was comrade Lo Van Tien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representative of the leadership of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Dien Bien province. Regarding the damage caused by storms and flash floods in Dien Bien in the recent past, comrade Lo Van Tien, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, said: Of the 24 natural disasters that occurred in Dien Bien (since the beginning of the year), the flash flood that occurred on the night of July 24 and early morning of July 25 in Muong Pon commune (Dien Bien district) caused the most severe damage to people and property. The flash flood left 7 people dead, missing and many injured. Damage to property, crops, traffic works, and irrigation works is estimated at over 250 billion VND. Among the hundreds of families in Muong Pon commune that suffered damage due to flash floods, more than 100 people were workers of production teams and groups of Dien Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company whose houses were swept away, damaged, and lost their production land. Some workers had relatives swept away by the flood and died.

Comrade Ha Van Khuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Vietnam Rubber Industry Group and members of the working delegation presented funds to support two companies in Dien Bien to overcome flood damage.

As soon as the flash flood passed, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province directed the District Disaster Prevention and Control Command and departments and branches to proactively overcome the situation according to the "4 on-site" motto, urgently support affected households according to regulations; help people soon stabilize their lives. With the attention and direction of the Central Government, ministries, branches and the joint efforts of organizations, businesses, and philanthropists nationwide to support in terms of material and spiritual support, up to now, the spirit and life of the people in the Muong Pon flash flood area have gradually stabilized; people feel secure in their lives, making efforts to overcome the damage, and restore production. Sharing the damage with the people and the Dien Bien provincial government, comrade Ha Van Khuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Group, said that as soon as hearing the news that Dien Bien suffered heavy damage due to flash floods in Muong Pon, the Group sent a working delegation to Dien Bien to visit and provide initial support to workers and affected families. After the damage caused by storm No. 3, the group organized a campaign to support provinces and companies in the northern mountainous region that suffered damage due to storms and flash floods. With a total mobilization budget of 3.4 billion VND supported by leaders, officers and workers of the whole group, the group decided to support 9 provinces and 13 companies. Of which, 100 million VND was given to the Relief Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province; 200 million VND was given to Dien Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company; and 100 million VND was given to Muong Nhe Rubber Joint Stock Company. On this occasion, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union and Youth Union of the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group also supported union members, youth and workers of 2 companies (Dien Bien Rubber, Muong Nhe Rubber) with 107 million VND.

Representatives of the Youth Union and the Business Association of the Group presented funds to support union members and young workers of two companies in Dien Bien.

Previously, on July 26, leaders of Dien Bien Rubber Joint Stock Company visited and presented 150 million VND (cash, rice, essential supplies) to support workers and farmers in Muong Pon commune to temporarily overcome the consequences of flash floods.
