Japanese businesses want to move production to Vietnam
In Hiroshima, on the evening of May 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and representatives of senior leaders of the Vietnamese Government, Japan, and Hiroshima Prefecture witnessed the announcement ceremony of Vietjet's first direct flight from Vietnam to Hiroshima Prefecture (Japan). The Hanoi - Hiroshima route began serving passengers from July 19 with 2 round trips per week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

In addition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Fujimoto Masayoshi, General Director of Sojitz Corporation. Sojitz currently has 17 joint ventures in Vietnam with a revenue of about 1 billion USD. Sojitz leaders committed to strong, long-term investment in Vietnam ; at the same time, presented some ideas to expand investment activities in the coming time in the fields of industrial parks and renewable energy. He said that many Japanese enterprises, including large enterprises, are looking to expand production in Vietnam or shift production to Vietnam . There are about 70 enterprises that are exploring the possibility of Sojitz opening more industrial parks in Vietnam .
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Sojitz continue to expand investment in industrial park ecosystems, acting as a bridge to promote Japanese enterprises with resources in capital, technology, and management capacity to invest and do business in Vietnam , contributing to bringing Vietnam deeper into the global supply chain.
Raising Vietnam - Korea trade turnover to 150 billion USD
On the evening of May 19, on the occasion of attending the expanded G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the remarkable achievements in bilateral relations after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations (1992 - 2022), including the upgrading of bilateral relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Vietnam and the Republic of Korea share many similar strategic interests in the development of each country as well as views on many international and regional issues, especially the promotion of the role of international law, multilateralism, and people-centered service.
In its foreign policy, Vietnam consistently attaches importance to its relations with the Republic of Korea, and wishes to work with the Republic of Korea to further deepen the cooperative relationship between the two countries, with economic and trade cooperation as the focus and political trust as the foundation. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the Republic of Korea to continue to cooperate and support Vietnam in five specific issues, including capital, technology, human resources, institution building, and governance.

Hope Vietnamese people in Japan promote entrepreneurial spirit
On the afternoon of May 19, right after landing at Hiroshima airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh spent time meeting the Vietnamese community living and working in Japan. Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu said that with more than 500,000 people studying, living and working, the Vietnamese are the second largest foreign community in Japan.
Stating that the community of scientists in Japan always looks towards their homeland, Professor Dr. Tran Dang Xuan (Hiroshima University), Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in the central-southern region of Japan, shared that scientists are coming up with many ideas and researching projects that can be applied in Vietnam such as new varieties of rice that are superior in taste, and calling on Japanese corporations in the field of wind power to participate in investment cooperation in Vietnam.
The spirit of entrepreneurship was also the main theme of the meeting with the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship of the Vietnamese community in Japan, saying that rapid and sustainable development must rely on innovation. He also advised overseas Vietnamese to comply with local laws, support each other to improve, "help each other in times of need", overcome all difficulties and challenges to rise up, assert themselves, and contribute to strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
In particular, the Prime Minister hoped that the two sides would continue to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, including soon completing the goal of raising trade turnover to 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and healthy manner. Welcoming Korean enterprises to invest in large infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister affirmed that the State and Government of Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions for Korean enterprises to invest and expand their investment scale.
President Yoon Suk Yeol shared Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's assessment of the outstanding results of the bilateral relationship in recent times. President Yoon affirmed that he attaches importance to the relationship with Vietnam , considering Vietnam one of the leading important partners in the region, as evidenced by the fact that Vietnam is currently the third largest trade partner of Korea. Regarding the direction of developing relations, Korea is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to promote close cooperation in many aspects, especially in areas where Korea has strengths and Vietnam has needs such as science and technology, innovation, etc.
