Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company Limited (Suntory PepsiCo) recently held a workshop on "Sustainable Development Partners" with the participation of 70 strategic partners in the Vietnamese market.
At the workshop, Suntory PepsiCo and its partners committed to enhancing cooperative relationships in production and business through sustainable development initiatives and building a roadmap to implement this commitment, towards a better Vietnam.
Mr. Jahanzeb Khan - General Director of Suntory PepsiCo shared the company's achievements and development strategy for the next 5 years. The company has been working with its partners to set goals, strategies for deeper cooperation and a specific roadmap for sustainable development in the future. He also emphasized the role and responsibility of the company and its partners in solving emerging issues related to the environment , innovative thinking and development orientation towards good things to serve Vietnamese consumers.
Accordingly, in the company's supply chain, Suntory PepsiCo will focus on four elements: Innovation to provide the best products to consumers, supply chain integration to optimize costs, simplify processes and better manage risks in the supply chain, sustainable development and creating positive impacts for the environment and society. Suntory PepsiCo aims to cooperate with partners who have policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in indirect production facilities (Scope 3) in the value chain, while supporting and committing to sustainable values.
Suntory PepsiCo presented commemorative medals to strategic partners who have collaborated to achieve the set goals. Specifically: The Innovation category was awarded to Hon Chuan Vietnam Company, the Sustainable Development category was awarded to Krones, the Quality category was awarded to Srithai Vietnam Company, the Effort to create value category was awarded to Gemadept Logistics One Member Company, the Flexibility and Perseverance category was awarded to YCH-PROTRADE Company, the category demonstrating the spirit of "dreaming big, daring to take on challenges and never giving up Yattee Minahare" was awarded to Sidel Blowing and Services Company.
With nearly 3 decades of development in Vietnam, Suntory PepsiCo is a beverage company with 5 manufacturing plants, providing jobs for nearly 3,000 direct workers and thousands of indirect workers. Over the past 6 years, the company has always been in the list of top 100 enterprises paying corporate income tax to Vietnam and in the top 100 sustainable development enterprises assessed by VCCI. In 2021, Suntory PepsiCo was in the list of 30 innovative enterprises assessed by the National Innovation Center under the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the German International Cooperation Agency.
In April 2021, the company launched Pepsi products for the first time with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic (100% rPET, excluding caps and labels) , the first time in the Vietnamese market . The company also launched many initiatives to reduce packaging for products such as Oolong TEA+, Twister and Lipton tea, or the Aquafina bottle made in Vietnam is the lightest Aquafina bottle in the world... In July 2022, Suntory PepsiCo signed a 5-year strategic cooperation agreement with Duy Tan Recycled Plastic Company to supply recycled plastic to produce Suntory PepsiCo product packaging.
In addition, Suntory PepsiCo is committed to implementing 3R (Reduce - Reuse - Recycle) in its production and business in Vietnam. In 2021, the company reduced more than 1,100 tons of plastic and in 2022 saved 3,470 tons of plastic, contributing to reducing plastic waste in the environment.
Suntory PepsiCo is aiming to increase the use of renewable energy sources to replace fossil energy such as using biofuels for steam production to replace DO oil fuel, installing rooftop solar power systems at all factories...
Suntory PepsiCo also sets its own goals for reducing sugar, calories, and adding vitamins and other nutrients to its product formulas.
As a founding member of the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Organization (PRO Vietnam), Suntory PepsiCo is committed to joining hands to contribute to a green - clean - beautiful Vietnam through promoting the circular economy model.
