On July 20, Ukraine launched another attack on the Crimean peninsula. Crimean Governor Sergey Aksyonov said the suspected drone attack damaged at least four buildings and killed a young girl.
“Drones” were used in the airstrikes, “four administrative buildings” were damaged and at least one person was killed, Aksyonov said on Telegram, but did not disclose the exact location of the attack.
This is the fourth Ukrainian attack in less than a week. On July 16, the Russian military stopped an attack on the port of Sevastopol. The next day, July 17, Russian and Ukrainian forces attacked the Crimean bridge with two drones. The attack killed two civilians and injured a girl.
On July 18, Russian forces shot down 28 drones near Crimea. Then, on July 19, a fire broke out at a military warehouse in Crimea’s Kirovsky district. The cause of the incident has not yet been disclosed.
SF newspaper commented that the recent attacks on Crimea were likely carried out to distract attention from the heavy material and human losses of Kiev forces on the fronts.
The Ukrainian army is pushing forward on several fronts but is facing fierce resistance from Russia.
On July 20, the Russian Zapaq Group of Forces announced that their Su-34 fighter bombers had carried out an airstrike and destroyed a command post as well as a concentration of manpower and equipment of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian forces near Kucherovka, in the direction of Kupyansk.
The Group's artillery also blocked an attempt to rotate troops between units of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade near Berestovoe. In addition, tank and artillery fire pounded the positions of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade and territorial defense units near Kislovka, Ivanovka and Kotlyarovka.
Total Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to an infantry platoon, an armored personnel carrier, two vehicles and an ammunition depot. A US-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar station was also destroyed near Peschanoe.
The Group's air defense forces also shot down two Furia and Poseidon drones of Kiev forces over the settlements of Tavolzhanka and Zhovtneve.
New battlefield videos released by SF show Kiev forces suffering heavy losses in Luhansk and Zaporozhye, including US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and Slovinian-supplied M-55S tanks. Another video shows Russian precision airstrikes on a Kiev military position in Bakhmut.
