The Russian Defense Ministry announced on September 26 that the Sever Forces Group of the Russian army inflicted heavy losses on Kiev forces by repelling several attacks in the direction of Kursk.
In its daily briefing, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the 21st, 22nd, 41st Mechanized Brigades; 17th Tank Brigade; 95th Air Assault Brigade; 36th Marine Brigade and the 112th and 129th Territorial Defense Brigades of Ukraine suffered losses near the settlements of Lyubimovka, Daryino, Novy Put, Nikolayevo-Daryino and Plekhovo.
The report added that a counterattack by Kiev forces was repelled near the settlement of Obukhovka. In the failed counterattack, 15 Ukrainian soldiers were killed or wounded. Two armored fighting vehicles and a motor vehicle were also destroyed.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Sever Group of Forces also prevented three attempts by the Ukrainian army to break through the Russian border near the settlements of Novy Put and Medvezhye.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine lost four armored fighting vehicles, two vehicles and 40 soldiers were killed or wounded," the ministry said.
In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry also announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit the troop concentrations of the 21st, 22nd, 41st, 61st, 115th Mechanized Brigades; the 17th Tank Brigade; the 80th, 95th Air Assault Brigades; the 36th Marine Brigade and the 103rd, 129th Territorial Defense Brigades.
Military gatherings of Ukrainian forces were also attacked by Russia near the settlements of Bogdanovka, Guyevo, Daryino, Kruglenkoye, Kubatkin, Knyazhy Pervy, Kositsa, Lyubimovka, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Malaya Obukhovka, Medvezhye, Novaya Sorochina, Novoivanovka, Novy Put, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Tolsty Lug and Yuzhny.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian military also carried out airstrikes against the reserves of the 21st, 22nd, 41st, 47th, 115th Mechanized Brigades; the 82nd, 95th Air Assault Brigades; the 1st National Guard Brigade and the 101st, 103rd, 106th, 129th Territorial Defense Brigades near the settlements of Barilo, Belovody, Byvalino, Vorozhba, Zhuravka, Glukhov, Gurinovka, Zarutskoye, Iskriskovshchina, Kislaya Dubina, Katerinovka, Pavlovka, Rechki, Starye Virki, Stetskovka, Sumy, Shalygino and Khoten.
"Over the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost more than 340 servicemen and 12 armored fighting vehicles, four artillery pieces, 11 motor vehicles," the Russian Defense Ministry detailed in a summary.
The ministry also released several videos of Russian airstrikes on Kiev forces in the Kursk direction.
In early August, Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy towards Russia’s Kursk. Soon after, Russia launched attacks to halt the Ukrainian advance. However, fierce fighting is still going on in the direction of Kursk.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the start of the battle for Kursk, Kiev forces have lost 17,400 troops, 130 tanks, 62 infantry fighting vehicles, 95 armored personnel carriers, 824 armored fighting vehicles, 525 motor vehicles, 142 guns, 31 launchers, five transport-loading vehicles, 35 electronic warfare stations, eight counter-battery radars, two airborne radars, 18 engineering vehicles.
