OCOP products affirm their position in the market

Implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, up to now, Tuyen Quang has achieved many remarkable results, creating opportunities for local agricultural products to affirm their position in the market. From the spread of the program, many agricultural products have been invested in and developed into OCOP products by the subjects, contributing to improving economic efficiency and increasing income for the people.

Implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, up to now, Tuyen Quang has achieved many remarkable results, creating opportunities for local agricultural products to affirm their position in the market. From the spread of the program, many agricultural products have been invested in and developed into OCOP products by the subjects, contributing to improving economic efficiency and increasing income for people.

Product enhancement

No one knows when the black pork sausage making profession began in Thuong Lam commune (Lam Binh). Only that when the traditional Tet holiday approaches, every household and every person is busy making sausages for home use and as gifts for relatives and friends. To meet that need, the Hoa Chuyen Cooperative Group in Ban Cho village, Thuong Lam commune with 5 members, led by Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, was established. In 2023, the Thuong Lam black pork sausage product of the Cooperative Group was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a product that meets the 3-star OCOP standard.

Ms. Tran Thi Hoa confided: “To make fresh and delicious sausages with the flavor of Thuong Lam black pig, the maker must be dedicated and not simply pursue profit. As for the Cooperative Group, we try to complete the procedures so that the product can achieve OCOP certification. This is how we affirm the sausage brand of the Tay Lam Binh people.”

If in the past, members of the sausage production and trading industry only produced by hand, now all stages are done by machine. The product is vacuum-sealed, beautifully packaged and is a meaningful gift for the coming New Year and Spring.

Comrade Nguyen The Giang, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and delegates visited booths at the week of trade, agricultural products, tourism, investment connecting consumption of products of ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Tuyen Quang province in 2024.

In the days leading up to Tet, members of the Chieu Yen Organic Fruit Cooperative (Yen Son) are busy harvesting oranges. Mr. Nguyen Van Thai, Director of the Chieu Yen Organic Fruit Cooperative, said that in 2023, the Chieu Yen yellow-heart orange product was certified as a 3-star OCOP product, and the cooperative's orange garden was well received by the market, including major supermarkets in Hanoi. This year's orange crop, the cooperative's 16 hectares of organic oranges yielded about 30 tons/ha. With a garden price of more than 14,000 VND/kg, after deducting expenses, the cooperative will earn a profit of about 3 billion VND.

“We are striving to bring many quality products to the market and aim for export in the future. Along with that, we continue to take care of oranges in a biosafety direction; research and improve packaging and labeling of Chieu Yen yellow-fleshed oranges to aim for 4-star OCOP standards in the coming years,” Mr. Thai shared.

After 2 years of participating in the OCOP Program, the green bean black tea bag product of Hong Phat Organic Agricultural Cooperative (Chiem Hoa) has been recognized as achieving 4-star OCOP quality.

Director of Hong Phat Organic Agricultural Cooperative Pham Thi Hong said: The OCOP program has brought positive values, contributing to enhancing the brand of the cooperative's products. Currently, green bean black tea bags are available in 52/63 provinces and cities. Notably, in 2024, green bean black tea bags were selected as one of the 7 agricultural products selected for export to the UK market. To maintain and expand the market, in the coming time, the cooperative will continue to improve the product and improve the quality of tea.

The province's OCOP products are exported to the UK market.

Reaching out with OCOP

The goal of the OCOP Program is to develop advantageous agricultural, non-agricultural, and service products in each locality according to the value chain. Therefore, sectors and localities have reviewed and mobilized production establishments and economic entities with potential products to support, guide, orient, and advise on upgrading and perfecting products towards quality standardization; building brands, promoting trade, and advertising products. Thereby, hundreds of production entities have focused on investing in improving quality, perfecting product criteria, and making efforts to improve market development skills for products.

Up to now, the whole province has 221 OCOP products evaluated and classified from 3 to 4 stars. Of which, 1 Hong Thai Shan Tuyet tea product (Na Hang) is waiting to be upgraded to 5 stars. Most of the OCOP products are of good quality, beautiful design, have completed food hygiene and safety certification standards, collective trademarks, have brought benefits to both producers and consumers and gradually affirmed the brand of Tuyen agricultural products.

Many products of Tue Tam Herbal Medicine Company Limited have achieved 3-star and 4-star OCOP of the province.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Hung informed: In recent times, the OCOP Program in the province has achieved certain results, creating a widespread influence throughout the entire political system from the province to the grassroots; awareness of the subjects about the meaning and importance of developing OCOP products has been significantly raised; promoting the strength and role of the community in preserving and developing traditional local products; at the same time, creating jobs, increasing income for rural people, promoting the development of agricultural and rural economy.

In the coming time, in order for the province's OCOP products to establish a firm foothold in the market, the provincial Department of Agriculture will coordinate with other sectors and localities to continue to promote and support entities in exploiting and upgrading products; at the same time, it is ready to support entities in expanding production when the products have dominated the consumer market. In addition, the provincial Department of Agriculture will also promote the application of digital economy in the implementation of OCOP products to facilitate trade promotion and stabilize product output.
