Ratcliffe has ambitions to build the most modern new stadium in the world for MU. |
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has received support from Patrick Campbell, one of the senior architects involved in the project, who stressed that it would be a world-class stadium, designed with a "football first" philosophy.
"The big challenge Jim Ratcliffe set us was to create the greatest football stadium in the world. The fan experience was paramount. It was all about the atmosphere, being as close as possible to the pitch, having the perfect view of the game. We wanted to create a stadium that would energise the team, where the fans would come together and create a roar to drive their team to victory," Campbell said.
Campbell added: "We are not the actual owners, but are simply helping to shape a stadium for the fans and the local community. To do that, we need the participation of all stakeholders, from fans to local authorities. We look forward to the upcoming consultation and discussion."

MU announced an ambitious £2 billion project, expected to take around 5 years to complete. In addition to providing a world-class stadium, the project is also expected to create 92,000 jobs and boost economic growth for the area.
Despite its grand ambitions, the plan has not been without controversy. Many fans have expressed disappointment at the initial design of the new stadium, which was criticised as “ugly”. Some experts, including Paul Merson, have suggested that MU should focus on investing in the squad rather than building a new stadium.
Even CEO Omar Berrada warned that this project could affect the club's transfer budget, something that neither coach Ruben Amorim nor fans want, especially when the "Red Devils" are sinking deep into 13th place on the Premier League table.
The project has a lot of potential, but what worries fans the most is that the team may have to sacrifice the transfer budget. In other words, MU will spend frugally and will hardly be able to welcome blockbuster contracts in the near future.
