KOLs and KOCs are influential people who became popular around 2019 - 2020, when the review trend spread across social networking platforms. In the context of online shopping becoming increasingly popular but also fraught with risks of counterfeit and poor quality goods, the appearance of KOLs and KOCs on livestream has brought a "new breeze", building trust with consumers; creating a strong shift in the shopping habits of Vietnamese consumers.
Unlike carefully edited product images on websites or sales apps, livestream sessions provide a realistic, intuitive experience, helping viewers clearly feel the product, from material, design to color, so many people have bought it.
According to research by NielsenIQ Vietnam, KOLs and KOCs have a great influence on the purchasing decisions and shopping journeys of consumers in Vietnam. About 50% of consumers said that their purchasing decisions were influenced by KOLs and KOCs.
In fact, KOLs appear in every field we can think of, from beauty, fashion, cooking, fitness, gaming, or e-commerce... According to experts, in the context of the strong explosion of e-commerce and the trend of online shopping that has become popular not only with domestic consumers but also globally, KOLs and KOCs have emerged as very effective marketing strategies. Through livestreams, streamers connect and introduce products to consumers, thereby increasing sales for sellers and brands on the platform.
Speaking to a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - TikTok representative in Vietnam, Vice President of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association - expects that Online Friday 2024 will have about 5 million orders from livestream sessions and hanging logos with information about the Proud of Vietnamese Products Campaign. In addition, there will also be about 1 billion viewers.
Along with the appearance of KOLs and KOCs, to stimulate consumption and purchase of Vietnamese goods, during the National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day (Online Friday) 2024 taking place from November 25 and lasting until December 1, 2024, the TikTok Shop platform will launch a series of 15 - 20% discount vouchers.
In response to the program, e-commerce platform Lazada will also sponsor thousands of discount vouchers at levels of 8%, 10%, and 12% with values up to 400,000 VND and free shipping vouchers. In particular, during 60 hours of online shopping, Lazada will give customers 1,000 vouchers worth 50,000 VND.
This is a great opportunity for Vietnamese products to make a strong impression on consumers, while promoting the habit of using Vietnamese products, opening a new era for quality Vietnamese products to stand side by side with products around the world.
According to the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), one of the most important goals of this year's event is to build a close connection between technology and consumers, bringing ideal shopping opportunities to consumers and continuing to promote digital transformation in Vietnam.
