State Bank increases USD selling price to over 26,000 VND

The central exchange rate today (March 21) was announced by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) at 24,813 VND/USD, up 6 VND compared to yesterday's listed rate and currently a record high. With a 5% amplitude, the current USD exchange rate that commercial banks are allowed to trade is from 23,572 - 26,054 VND/USD.

The State Bank also increased the USD reference exchange rate by 6 VND in both directions, to 23,623 - 26,003 VND/USD for buying and selling. This is the first time the State Bank has raised the USD reference selling price to over 26,000 VND.

The upward movement of the central exchange rate has led to a sharp increase in the USD price at commercial banks today. Currently, the selling price of the greenback on this official channel has increased by about 50 VND compared to the end of last week and is close to the peak of 25,780 VND/USD recorded in early March.

Specifically, Vietcombank today increased the greenback trading price by 20 VND compared to yesterday, currently listed at 25,370 - 25,760 VND/USD (buy - sell).

Similarly, VietinBank also raised the buying and selling prices of the greenback to 25,419 - 25,779 VND/USD, an increase of 26 VND; BIDV listed at 25,400 - 25,760 VND/USD, an increase of 30 VND.

At the private commercial bank group, HDBank currently lists this foreign currency transaction price at 25,310 - 25,760 VND/USD, an increase of 20 VND.

Other large private commercial banks such as Techcombank, Eximbank, VPBank, ACB, SHB... also increased their USD buying and selling prices by a few dozen dong. Currently, the buying price in this group fluctuates around 25,350-25,380 VND/USD and the selling price is commonly at 25,740-25,760 VND/USD.

The USD price on the free market also increased by 30 VND compared to yesterday. Currently, foreign exchange points in Hanoi accept transactions at 25,870 - 25,970 VND/USD (buy - sell).

Since the beginning of the week, the USD price on the free market has increased by about 150 VND and is currently approaching the peak of 26,030 VND/USD recorded at the end of June 2024.
