Strengthening land management
Cu Chi District is a suburban district in the Northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, about 33km from the city center. Cu Chi has a total area of 43,477.18 hectares (equal to 20.74% of the total area of Ho Chi Minh City), with a population of 527,206 people.

In order to strengthen the management and economical and effective use of land resources and ensure that State management is in order and in accordance with legal regulations, on April 28, 2022, the Standing Committee of Cu Chi District Party Committee issued Directive No. 09-CT/HU on strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels in State management of land and construction in the district.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Cu Chi district, the district's functional agencies regularly organize inspections and checks to promptly detect violations of land laws; resolutely and strictly handle violations, especially cases of illegal construction on agricultural land.
At the same time, communes and towns are required to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of legal guidance on land and construction to raise public awareness and understanding of compliance with land law; review the situation of land management and use in the area, propose strict and legal handling of violations of encroachment, occupation, and illegal transfer of land use rights to the wrong subjects.
In addition, Cu Chi organizes public land use planning; copies of annual land use plan maps to send to communes and towns so that localities can use them as a basis for implementing land management work according to regulations. Maintains conferences to review and evaluate land management work with the Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes, towns, and functional agencies; clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of leaders in local land management and use. Therefore, newly emerging violations are detected and handled, especially in cases of disputes, improper land use, illegal construction, etc.
Effective land exploitation for sustainable development
Mr. Nguyen Quyet Thang, Secretary of Cu Chi District Party Committee, said: In the coming time, the district will effectively exploit land resources in combination with external mobilized resources to develop in the direction of smart urban areas, ecological urban areas, developing high-tech agriculture and high-tech industry.
In particular, land use planning ensures the connection and synchronization between land use planning and plans with construction planning, economic - cultural - social development planning, production and livestock area planning and new rural construction planning.
Currently, Cu Chi has a large agricultural land fund, an area of about 17,000 hectares. Taking advantage of the large agricultural land fund, over the years, Cu Chi has oriented to develop urban agriculture and high-tech agriculture. Currently, the total area of safe vegetables in the district is 1,337 hectares, of which the area applying high technology is 261.576 hectares, with economic efficiency of nearly 1.5 billion VND/ha; the area for growing orchids and ornamental plants is 327.32 hectares, of which the area applying high technology is 8.96 hectares; the area for raising ornamental fish is 21.2 hectares, of which 16.133 hectares apply high technology, with economic efficiency of about 2.4 billion VND/ha...
Mr. Vo Van Thuan, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Cu Chi District, said: In the past time, the Farmers' Association of the district has organized the transfer and built 22 agricultural models applying high technology in vegetable production, dairy cow farming, aquaculture and ornamental fish. The rate of agricultural production households applying high technology accounts for nearly 2.9% of the total number of agricultural production households. In 2022 alone, the association at all levels coordinated to organize vocational training for agricultural labor for 1,363 members.
In particular, Farmer Association members actively participate in practical activities, joining hands to build new rural areas such as donating 1,870 m2 of land, upgrading 6.6 km of rural roads, with more than 2,155 working days; at the same time, replicating effective environmental protection models such as model flower roads, exchanging plastic waste for green trees and seeds, covered wooden trash bins, fields without bottles, pesticide containers, etc.
In addition, the Farmers' Association at all levels has mobilized and cared for more than 1,119 poor, near-poor and disadvantaged member households through social security activities such as donating production tools, means of livelihood, giving seedlings, livestock, capital support, giving Tet gifts, giving food, masks, antiseptic water, etc.
