On the afternoon of October 16, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha led a Government delegation to inspect the actual progress of the Long Thanh International Airport project (Dong Nai).

According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), relevant units have urgently mobilized and gathered machinery and human resources to construct the bid packages.

The project site mobilized nearly 3,000 people and machinery and equipment to focus on constructing 4 main packages, including: Drainage leveling package; passenger terminal; runway and taxiway area; and connecting traffic package.

Representatives of the Ministry of Transport reported the progress of component projects at the Long Thanh airport project to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

Representatives of the Ministry of Transport reported the progress of component projects at the Long Thanh airport project to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

ACV is focusing on mobilizing machinery to prepare for peak construction when the rainy season ends in November 2023.

At the field trip, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that Long Thanh airport is a century-old project, of historical significance to the country, so the project must meet the expectations and development of the transport infrastructure construction industry.

Currently, the important items have been basically implemented, the site has been fully handed over, and the legal conditions have been completed. Therefore, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ACV to closely develop a general progress diagram of the entire project. The works in the project are closely related to each other, the delay of one work will affect the progress of other works.

"Legality and discipline must be ensured. Contractors who do well will be encouraged and rewarded, those who do wrong will be punished, and weak contractors will be eliminated," Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted to avoid the situation of "drums beating one way and trumpets blowing the other", it is necessary to clarify the responsibilities of relevant units, and units must have documents on plans to implement assigned tasks sent to the Government.

In addition, ACV must take responsibility for the entire project, and ministries must take responsibility for the assigned tasks. By the end of October, the Ministry of Transport will submit to the Government a general plan for the construction of the entire Long Thanh airport project.
