At the propaganda and career guidance session for military recruitment to the Military Medical Academy on the afternoon of November 23 at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, Phu Tho, a representative of the Military Medical Academy said that in 2024, the school will recruit students for the military medical system with two combinations: A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), and the military preventive medicine major with combination B00.
Like last year, candidates wishing to enter the school must meet health standards. Male candidates must be 1.63m tall and weigh 50kg or more. Female candidates must be 1.54m tall and weigh 48kg or more. Candidates with myopia of no more than 3 diopters must have their eyesight tested with glasses at 10/10 for the right eye and a total vision of both eyes at 19/10. Height and weight standards will be lower for candidates in region 1, islands, and those with very few ethnic groups.
Regarding the 2024 admission method, the Military Medical Academy will recruit directly, give priority to admission, and recruit excellent students with no more than 15% of the target.
Candidates are considered for direct admission if they are Labor Heroes, People's Armed Forces Heroes, emulation fighters who have graduated from high school; have won third prize or higher in national or international science and technology competitions; are ethnic minorities with very few people or live in poor border or island districts.
The Military Medical Academy continues to consider candidates with excellent academic results in grades 10, 11 and the first semester of grade 12, and good conduct. Candidates in this category need to have first, second, or third prizes at the provincial level in one of the subjects in the admission group; an English certificate of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 55 or higher; SAT from 1,068/1600 points or ACT from 18/36. These conditions are similar to last year.
For the remaining 85% of the quota, the school recruits based entirely on high school graduation exam results. Last year, the school's admission score based on graduation exam results ranged from 22.65 to 27.17.
Currently, the Military Medical Academy has not announced its quota. The Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense will annually announce the general quota for all military schools.
The Military Medical Academy was established in 1949 and has trained nearly 90,000 doctors. Students are exempted from tuition, accommodation, living expenses, study materials, and personal military equipment. In addition, students receive an allowance of about 800,000 to 1.5 million VND per month. 100% of students are assigned jobs by the Ministry of National Defense after graduation.
Every year, about 5% of students finishing their first year at the Military Medical Academy are selected to be sent to study at universities in Russia, Cuba, China, and India. After graduation, students can take the residency exam, study for a master's or doctorate in the country or be sent to study in Singapore, Russia, France, Japan, Korea, Cuba, and China.
