(NLDO) - Driving a motorbike carrying his wife without wearing a helmet, the Deputy Chief of Police of O Cho Dua Ward was fined 1 million VND and had his driver's license temporarily suspended.
On February 5, Hanoi City Police announced that Trung Liet Ward Police, Dong Da District (Hanoi) issued a decision to administratively fine a police officer for violating traffic laws.
Previously, people reported through the Digital Citizens of the Capital (iHanoi) application information and images of a police officer of O Cho Dua Ward (Dong Da District) wearing plain clothes and not wearing a helmet while driving a motorbike. Immediately after receiving the information, Dong Da District Police directed relevant units to urgently verify and clarify.
Through verification, the authorities determined that at around 1:30 p.m. on January 27, Mr. NPH, Deputy Chief of Police of O Cho Dua Ward, drove a motorbike carrying a relative in traffic in the Hoang Cau area of Dong Da District, but both were not wearing helmets.
Pursuant to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations of traffic order and safety in the field of road traffic, Trung Liet Ward Police have drawn up a record and issued a decision to administratively sanction Mr. NPH for the violation of not wearing a helmet for motorcyclists and motorbike riders and carrying a passenger on a motorbike without a helmet for motorcyclists and motorbike riders with a fine of 1 million VND and temporary suspension of the driver's license.
Along with that, make a record and issue a decision to administratively fine the person being transported on the motorbike driven by Mr. NPH for the violation of not wearing a helmet for motorcyclists and motorbike riders with a fine of 500,000 VND.
Currently, Dong Da District Police are reviewing and strictly handling Mr. NPH's violations according to the regulations of the Public Security sector.
Previously, many images of Mr. NPH, Deputy Chief of Police of O Cho Dua Ward, and his wife riding a motorbike without wearing a helmet were circulated on social media, but they only "asked to learn from experience and be more careful". Many people believe that the authorities need to strictly handle violations, and in Mr. H's case, he should be fined and disciplined.
