Innovating the Youth Union model, "lighting up" the youth

Innovating the organizational model of the Youth Union and Association to suit the practical situation, especially in remote areas, ethnic minority areas is one of the important requirements to attract and gather young people. Through specific movements, the Youth Union has proven its effectiveness and practicality, so that young people come to the Union voluntarily. From consolidating the quality of the team, innovating the method of operation, the quality of the organization has also been improved, the members and young people have grown up from the movements, becoming "red seeds" that have been tempered, creating a reliable source of successors for the Party.

Xuan Lap is a particularly difficult highland commune of Lam Binh, with over 60% of the population being Mong ethnic people. Before becoming Secretary of the Na Co village Youth Union, then Secretary of the Xuan Lap commune Youth Union, 21-year-old Lo A Phong did not have a clear direction.

With the encouragement of the Executive Committee of the Commune Youth Union, from practical activities such as: "Volunteer Saturday", "Green Sunday", volunteer activities for the community launched by the commune youth union... Lo A Phong has devoted his youth, intelligence and enthusiasm to the youth union movement.

Secretary of the Xuan Lap Commune Youth Union, Lo A Phong, has also become a shining example for young people with the desire to change the backward thinking, lifestyle, thinking, and working methods of the Mong people. From specific, dynamic, innovative economic development activities, mobilizing young people to strive to get rich legitimately, actively participating in building new rural areas... the youth movement in the highland commune is increasingly strong. Through that, many young people with ideals, courage, ambition and aspiration to rise up have also appeared, such as union member Lo Manh Nho, born in 2004, Lung Gieng village. Thanks to Lo A Phong's direct training, help, and honor to stand in the ranks of the Party in October 2024...

Deep propaganda, careful selection

Directive No. 42-CT/TW of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in educating revolutionary ideals, ethics, and cultural lifestyles for the young generation in the 2015-2030 period once again affirms the need to strengthen traditional education for young people. Identifying the development of Party members as an important step in Party building, propaganda and education work has received special attention from Party committees and local organizations. Thereby, helping union members and young people realize their roles and responsibilities, thereby having the right motivation to strive to become Party members.

As one of the bright spots in developing party members, Vinh Quang Party Committee (Chiem Hoa) always puts education and raising awareness of the party for union members and young people first. Mr. Ma Van Dien, Secretary of Vinh Quang Commune Youth Union, said: In addition to the core task of uniting and gathering young people, organizing movements and activities to guide young people to develop comprehensively, the Commune Youth Union also carries out an important task of participating in Party building work, focusing on introducing sources for the Party to recruit. Each young party member who is in the Party's ranks has ambitions, aspirations, and good ideals to contribute to the homeland. Currently, the whole commune has over 70% of the Youth Union Branch Secretaries who are party members. The number of young party members under 35 years old who have been recruited since the beginning of the 2020 term is 22 party members.

Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style has been identified by the Youth Union at all levels as the top priority task in education. The Provincial Youth Union has deployed many methods, models and diverse activities suitable for each subject so that studying and following Uncle Ho becomes a spontaneous action of young people, permeating the way of thinking, lifestyle and actions of each young person.

Tuyen Quang City is one of the localities with the largest number of young party members in the province. Participating in Party building, introducing and nurturing outstanding members for the Party to consider admission is both an honor and a great responsibility of the "reliable reserve team of the Party". Comrade Vu Vuong Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, shared: identifying the Youth Union as a "socialist school for youth", contributing to educating revolutionary ideals, ethics and lifestyle for young people, Tuyen Quang City Youth Union always creates a favorable environment and conditions for union members and young people to practice and strive. Through learning movements, building new rural areas, volunteering for the community, social security activities, etc., grassroots youth organizations have promptly discovered, nurtured and introduced outstanding people for the Party to consider admission.

Create an environment for young people to strive and practice

Youth volunteer movements for the community have promoted the initiative and creativity of young people. Through the implementation of movements with specific activities such as supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, building "Beautiful schools for children" projects, playgrounds, children's entertainment spots, building roads to light up rural roads, model new rural flower roads, rural roads, etc., the solidarity front and gathering of young people are increasingly expanded.

In 2024, in the relief and support activities to overcome the consequences of storms and floods, the Youth Union and Association at all levels mobilized and received 200 tons of relief goods to transport and deliver to areas affected by storms and floods. More than 5,000 young people participated in supporting people to relocate their assets and overcome the consequences of storms and floods.

According to comrade Duong Minh Nguyet, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Tuyen Quang province, in recent times, the Provincial Youth Union has actively innovated and created in organizing activities to unite and gather young people. In particular, the model of "Party members aged 18" has been actively implemented in high schools and continuing education centers with specific solutions; strengthening political and ideological education activities, organizing competitions to learn about history and culture, organizing journeys to the source, to foster and raise awareness and responsibility for young people. Up to now, the whole province has over 89,000 union members and young people, the rate of solidarity and gathering of young people has reached over 75%. Through activities, young people are nurtured in patriotism, promoting the will to be self-reliant, becoming the "red thread" connecting the youth force to constantly strive and contribute to the homeland and the country.

Through the movements, from 2020 to present, 10,075 outstanding union members have been introduced to the Party for consideration and admission; 2,891 new party members have been admitted from outstanding union members. The number of outstanding union members admitted to the Party increases every year, not only contributing to the rejuvenation of the party members but also spreading the trust and love of the young generation for the Party.

In addition, to help young people feel secure in establishing their own careers in their hometowns, the provincial Youth Union has implemented many practical activities such as: Establishing clubs, groups, teams, and groups based on interests, helping each other develop the economy; consulting and solving on-site employment for young people; supporting rural youth in starting businesses and establishing careers; deploying capital to support young people in starting businesses and establishing careers with a total loan of nearly 12 billion VND for nearly 200 projects; organizing community-oriented activities... This is also a positive solution to overcome difficulties in Party development work in general, and Party development work among Youth Union members in particular.

To do well the annual work of developing party members, especially young party members, grassroots party committees also need to proactively assign official party members to monitor, help, and train outstanding people to join the Party; promote the role of party committee members, especially leaders and party members in training and creating resources; consider it a regular task to create an environment for union members and young people to practice and strive.

According to comrade Hoang Van Cuc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Yen Hoa Commune (Na Hang), reality shows that in localities where Party committees, authorities, and heads of mass organizations pay attention to leading the work of developing Party members, those places also promptly and flexibly resolve difficulties. At the same time, the Unions and Associations assigning challenging tasks and creating conditions for union members and young people to develop their abilities is also a way to select excellent seeds for Party committees to nurture and raise awareness of the Party and consider, nurture, and admit.

To keep the "flame" of enthusiasm burning forever, developing young party members in Tuyen Quang is not only an urgent task of the Provincial Party Committee, but also a key to building the homeland to become increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized. The dynamism, creativity and dedication of the young generation will be a strong driving force, building Tuyen Quang homeland to soon become a fairly developed, comprehensive, sustainable and inclusive province in the Northern midland and mountainous region.
