Recently, a cave with underground water flowing inside and many beautiful natural stalactites was discovered during stone mining in Ha Trung, Thanh Hoa.

The cave was discovered in Dun Mountain area, Ha Long commune, Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province during the stone exploitation process of Tien Thinh Company Limited.
Nui Dun was granted a stone mining license by Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to Tien Thinh Company Limited since December 22, 2014. Within the granted quarry area, there are 2 entrances to the cave inside Nui Dun located in the Northwest.
The newly discovered cave is about 70m long, 50m wide and about 40m high, with four entrances: east, west, south and north, and has underground water flowing inside with many beautiful natural stalactites.

According to locals, Dun Mountain is home to a very sacred cave, discovered by locals a long time ago, associated with the two resistance wars against France and America.
Nguyen Dynasty historical relics, scenic spots in Ha Long commune, especially Trieu Tuong Mausoleum relic area located near Dun mountain area.
Local people previously submitted a petition to the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to stop mineral exploitation in this area for protection.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa, Dun Mountain is not located in the protected area of national relics: Gia Mieu Communal House and Trieu Tuong Temple.
Dun Mountain is located behind and about 600m from Truong Nguyen mausoleum relic; about 300m from the scope and boundary of Trieu Tuong mausoleum historical relic, Ha Long commune, Ha Trung district.

Through actual inspection, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa confirmed that this is a cave with underground streams flowing inside and many beautiful natural stalactites, which need to be preserved and promoted in association with local tourism development. The exploitation of stone at Dun Mountain will directly affect the cave (the cave will be filled and collapsed due to rolling stones and landslides).
After receiving reports from the authorities, on April 15, Mr. Le Duc Giang, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, signed a document to temporarily suspend mineral exploitation at the limestone mine area at Dun Mountain, Ha Long Commune, Ha Trung District of Tien Thinh Company Limited.
The temporary suspension of mining here allows competent units and agencies to inspect and evaluate Dun Mountain specifically and comprehensively because during the mining process, a new cave was discovered...
Thanh Hoa Center for Historical Research and Cultural Heritage Conservation is coordinating with relevant units to conduct a comprehensive survey and assessment of the scale, value, historical, cultural, heritage and tourism significance of the above cave.
