Tu Lan consists of 8 caves. The Tu Lan cave system is located at a relatively low elevation, interwoven with numerous streams and rivers that seem endless, winding mysteriously through the majestic rocky mountains of the Truong Son mountain range. To explore Tu Lan, visitors have several options: 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day tours. If you are a beginner trekker, you should choose the 2-day tour, visiting 4 caves in the Tu Lan cave system: Tu Lan cave, Ken cave, Kim cave, and Hung Ton cave.

Nestled amidst towering mountains and dense forests, Tan Hoa ethnic minority village marks the beginning of a journey into the Tu Lan region. Here, you'll see a vast grassland stretching to the foot of the mountains, with herds of cattle grazing peacefully. Walking along the grassland, you'll pass the Rao Nan River. From here, you'll begin a 30-meter climb up a hillside with jagged rocks, then descend a 100-meter slope to reach Hung Ton valley, stopping for lunch at the entrance to the cave of the same name.

Exploring Tu Lan is not just about walking; you also have to swim, climb slopes, zip-line, and experience thrilling adventures to discover each cave with its rocky steps and vast primeval vegetation.

To explore the entire Tú Làn cave system, you have to climb over limestone mountains to reach the top of the caves, then proceed to the accessible entrances. The cave system was formed by underground water currents, so there are sections where you have to swim.

Next, we arrive at Ken Cave, where the campsite is located right in front of the cave entrance. From the entrance to the accessible walking area, you have to swim a short distance inside the cave, in the cool, clear water. Inside, following the limestone cliffs to reach the dry cave section, the whole group will feel like they've wandered into a labyrinth of rocks, immersed in layers upon layers of stalactites created by nature's marvel. Then, the cascading waterfall will surely satisfy your senses in this unbelievable setting.

After Hang Ken, the next day the group continued exploring the remaining three caves. The route remained the same: trekking through the forest to the cave entrance, swimming inside to explore, navigating several steep and slippery rock faces, and climbing a nearly 60-step iron ladder to the last cave. Each cave had its own unique charm, but standing inside a cave dozens of meters high, nestled amidst a labyrinth of limestone, stalactites, sand, and water, the only feeling that lingered was one of awe – awe at the magnificent beauty of nature.

The final stop in the Tu Lan cave system is a dry and spacious cave chamber. Two large, adjacent entrances allow light to penetrate, revealing a diverse array of stalactites and stalagmites. The result of millions of years of geological activity are perfectly round pebbles, artfully patterned black rock slabs, shimmering stalactites, and sparkling columns of stalagmites.

Many experienced trekkers share that the journey to Tu Lan requires perseverance. Therefore, anyone who has conquered the Tu Lan caves deserves praise because they have taken risks to enjoy a wonderful destination.
